I'm no rush, as currently have the F15.
I went up to Cooper Teesside for mine. At the time, February, they were the only dealer who would go to circa 15% and a decent price for my F15. Let me know if you want an intro...

So a guy in a Range Rover sport pulled up next to me at a set of lights today.

He was really taken by the X5, was asking questions about it and said he was sick of his RRS Autobiography.

Told him I love the X and the tech was outstanding, think that's all the shove he needed. Said he was going to bmw tomorrow to take a look!

We need more converts!

Thats exactly the move I made! Only had it 24 hours and love it so far.

We do need more converts so they can swap wheels out and flood the market with used 22's...

I also had very good experience at Sytner Maidenhead -- Carwyn's the guy I bought my X3 from 7 years ago, and we were treated like royalty back then and again when we showed up to get another car.

We DID bring our puppy to terrorise the garage, that helped a lot :-) Especially when I showed them a pic of said pup at the back of a Disco :-)

I assume all of your cars came on P-Zeros? Do you guys know how they deal with winter in the UK? I had P7's for years and was very happy with them, but the P-zero is clearly labelled as a 'summer tyre'...

Yeah p zero

Our winters are generally not as bad as yours, we don't get the extremes. X drive should compensate for any tyre deficiency

That's a bit of an understatement. Xdrive might help with traction and some cornering, but summer tyres on <7C surfaces are not recommended at all. You CAN'T compensate from a lack of contact patch grip with electronics. If your rubber goes rock solid due to cold (remember, cold for rubber is <7C) ABS and Xdrive won't fix it all up magically.

We don't really see temps drop below -5c

We don't really have those extremes

Well I remember in 2010 driving in Wales and reading -18C on the car. The screenwash was freezing on the windshield too, even tho I had pumped it up with alcohol before I left.

So anyone have/plan to get a set of all weather tyres -- just tyres, tyres + wheels?
Seems the US guys can get reasonably affordable aftermarket wheels -- I'm not TOO keen on spending about £3k on the BMW ones...

Also, another question, anyone had a tracker fitted? Since we were discussing insurance prices in various places in the country, I SUSPECT my premium might actually go down significantly with a tracker fitted since I'm in the thames valley...

Tracker:

It depends which insurance company you are with now, some offer discount and others not.
Churchills do not offer discount on tracker.
I do have tracker on my F15, and other cars.
I will suggest go to the smartrack Cat6, they are more cheaper and allow the monthly subscription.
BMW tracker Cat6, which cost £399 for 3 years subscription.

Both work the same way.

I had a tracker fitted on mine, the BMW integrated connected drive, find your car thingy isn't sufficient for insurance purposes (apparently).
I paid £399 for a 3yr subscription and £299 install fee for a Cat6 tracker.

I had a quote with a tracker. Premium lowered by £120. Wasn't worth it as far as I'm concerned

In hindsight, I wouldn't have bothered either

The tracker guy said: he never put a tracker on his own car. As if the car get stolen, he prefer a new car...don't want the old car back.

Exactly, thats what GAP insurance is for.

In all fairness, this might sound odd, but I wouldn't want to sit in the car, yet alone touch the steering wheel if I knew some low life had decided to take it for a joy ride.
