All the original emotions and information of this linked post still apply. I just searched "flap fuse".

So when using Bimmerlink feature to open the flap on the M50i and pulling the fuse do both flaps stay permanently open or just the passenger side?

The same fuse 203 fuses both paths to both flaps in the V8s.

A little warning to anyone considering this - I did the same thing to my M550i a couple of years ago. Followed the instructions online, started up in sports plus, pulled the fuse. Noticed a tiny bit of difference. One day out of nowhere while driving the "piped-in" engine noise suddenly became deafening, requiring me to take it in. It was like the volume got turned up from 1 to 10. Service guy said it was due to pulling that fuse. No idea how or why, but I felt like an idiot.

Nothing like that has ever been reported on G05, G06, and G07. And service guys say lots of random things.

You don’t need to pull the fuse. The OBDII connection and BimmerLink app work.

I assume once you disconnect and turn off the vehicle. The settings don't hold like with coding the car.

Thus needing to pull the fuse.

What are you talking about? BimmerLink are live settings, there is no memory in the car for any BimmerLink controls. The flaps absolutely do not hold open after power cycle with only the BimmerLink activation.

Now IIRC it is possible to configure BimmerLink to automatically connect to the car at every app start and to activate the flaps to open if you keep both the OBDII interface permanently connected and the app open. Except as a test, I can't see anyone doing that in perpetuity, however.

They don't hold, you have to reconnect the app every time you start the car.

I was curious about this and also annoyed by the drone noise while driving, so I connect the cable back then I realized, it does hold for whatever reason!! I connect back the cable yesterday because I was painting the diffuser (might as well). Tested twice, I was waiting to hear that mechanic sound that the flap made when open and close but never happen. Both of my tailpipes has air coming out. It was reported that the flap will close automatically when u connect the cable back and shut off the car. Not sure if is the same or not, I have 40i, open the flap using BimmerLink.

Yep it will save the flap open setting.

For those that are expecting a night and day sound change may be disappointed. They should note that the car is very well insulated from outside road noise and the exhaust is way back behind the vehicle unlike being in a small sports car. However it is louder outside the vehicle.

You know the valves open themselves at like 4K rpm? You just want a louder car while cruising in the suburbs and city traffic? lol
