When there is an error with a build...

Back from our PCD and it was amazing. Our 45e overall is amazing. One small thing...it was made with the wrong wood trim. We ordered the matted finish but got the brown poplar which is glossy. PCD said we don't make mistakes get with your CA. CA was out of the office all weekend and finally answered a text saying he would look into it today. But he did say he agreed it as supposed to be built with the matte finish wood. Really no way to fix this issue, curious if this ever happened to anyone else. If so how was it addressed?

Did the SA give you a confirmation / printout with your order details?

What he provided us showed matte finish. I sent it back to him, but since this is our first BMW I can't say if it was a printout of what he actually submitted or not. What I believe is, he made an error when actually submitting it and is trying to figure out a good excuse for how it happened. LOL Just got an email from the finance manager saying she talked to my CA and wants me to call her. I'm locked down in classified meetings all day and can't get outside to my phone until tonight.

Good luck. For my build, the dealer gave me a build code that allows me to see all configuration options on the BMW web page. Also, I was provided with a printout from their system.

If it was truly a build mistake then they should be able to switch trims for you under warranty. If it was a dealer mistake then hopefully they will make it right. Given you did PCD and did all the paperwork before see the car is in your favor.

Let us know how it turns out.

When there is an error with a build...

i recall folks ordering a certain trim that was out of stock, and it was replaced with a different one, but everyone affected by this was notified by their CA. i want to say it was the matte that was out of stock and then replaced by the brown poplar, but this was happening earlier this year. when did you place your order?

Yes, the trim pieces can be replaced.

It’s a purchase and it’s and MSport. Dealership just offered me $2,500 and I declined and requested the trim be replaced. They said they would look into it and get back with me. We’ll see.

Good Luck. I know when I put together my build, my CA made sure to go line by line to confirm everything. If you did the same and you didn't get what you ordered, I would stay on top of them... Cars are too expensive to not get exactly what you paid for.

CoachLarry I know we went through the F12 process and you were checking your options and for the manual delete, did it have the correct trim when you were checking it? If so then it was a true manufacturing error and not a CA ordering error.

Dealer offering cash implies dealer mistake? Also, I'd that that money and run but that's just me (I was very much on the fence between the two trims).

Oh ok, it also should have shown on the tracker. Either way, as long as they admit it you should be fine.

For other's reference you don't need F12 - just track your order and it shows you all of the options including color, trim, etc.

There are many features/options/deletes that do not show in MyGarage although the main ones do. During normal times the F12 is not needed but some like to see what deletes are showing up as well as all of the other detail.

Yeah I’m an idiot. This is what the dealer sent me after we ordered. It has matte wood but also listed the code, which was different than what was on the build. Not sure how I missed it. Too busy looking for power tailgate delete I guess. Since CA made an error when submitting I’m hopeful they’ll be able to make it right.

Well I am assuming you meant it was built with brown mettalic ash grain instead of Poplar

Since Poplar is the matte finish option

But them fixing it probably is not going to happen since that's going to be lot of work. If it was me I whould just take the 2.5k

I don't even notice the trim anymore after few months now

Also on the other hand 80k is a lot of money and if that something which will bother you by all means try and make them fix it
