something about the color of these that i don't like. Its too piss yellow or something. The M5CS's color seems to be a lighter shade of yellow.

Was busy with holiday season. Many local guys wants things done before the holiday, SEMA, some unfortunate event trip overseas, and Thanksgiving break with family, lol. I have pictures from my installation, just been super busy and haven't got a chance to compile them. Hopefully soon.

Hey, no problem at all ... any help gratefully received, it's all gravy the shop are going to have another look, my guy is good and is a BMW enthusiast himself who likes figuring things out, i've sent him the photos from this thread, he called me to say he thinks he knows what to do, but we'll see

Bad news for me ... i'm told that the EU spec X5M headlights ARE different to US spec, and that the DRLs i've received (see pics from previous posts on this thread) can't therefore be fitted to my car
c'est la vie ... i guess any US members want a set of these DRLs, they're free to a good home in a "pay it forward" kind of forum way (admittedly they only cost me $180, but hey)

I went to my garage/storage today, where I replaced my headlights in the summer to the shadow line euro spec, I have my original headlights in the boxes but modules I left at the top drawers, anyway I looked at them just for reference and microchips inside the modules are exactly same shape as the ones came in the box from seller.

Thanks so much for taking the trouble to post this ... i'm just going to ask my shop to humour me and take another look at the lights and modules before I give up on yellow DRLs I'll report back either way for the benefit of the EU members

Question for those who have done this, the boards are positioned on the heat sink cover via two pins that appear to be mushroomed. Do those need to be ground off to remove board? My buddy thought I should drill and tap those out to secure the new board with small screws, which we could have done but ran out of time. Thermal paste isn’t sufficient to maintain a reliable bond with the sink in the long run.
Edit: Looks like there is a thermal glue as mentioned above (ie Gennel G109), but likely isn't reversible. Still wanting to know if the board mounting pins need to be drilled out. Adding screws and using paste would be secure and reversible, provided the original boards are removed in a non-destructive manner. Here are the mushroomed pins that I'm referring to. While this pic is NOT one of the boards this mod replaces, the trangle-ish board I removed had pins pressed just like this.

So, I went ahead with my method. I will probably be the only one to do this but once in my head I can’t leave it. Whether you glue or fasten this mod is time consuming and not for the beginner. Between the more difficult access to screws and the drilling out of the punched boards (which may be unique to the X5), it is much more difficult than G8x.
For this mod to take off for this platform a plug and play solution is better IMO. A couple pics - happy to answer questions, no write up in the near future. Already spent 5x the time this mod is worth

Update: the turn signals threw error codes so I put the OEM outers back in. I reached out to Aliexpress about the issue but pretty sure I'm going to leave it as is - white outer and yellow inner. I read on the F97 forum of similar issue without resolution to date.

If this is the case I would put OEM back on, all 4, it looks kinda off with only half yellow. I'm still few months before doing this myself, hopefully we'll hear more by then. Happy New Year!

Did you have to use thermal glue for the install?
