BMW Performance Grills on Deep Sea Blue
Got the BMW Shadowline grills installed on my Deep Sea Blue 535i. The grills match the window trim on the U.S. Sport Package now. Unfortunately, there are still silver pieces on the lower grill. Next up for the car: windows tints, to be installed this weekend.

I am not feeling it. There is so much silver in the head lights and fog lights that the black grill looks out of place.

Not liking it at all. IT is out of place on this expensive car to have a blacked out grill. Kind of cheapens the whole car. I prefer that silver oem grill as it is very sharp looking. Sorry...

To each their own. I personally don't like chrome because it looks to flashy but that's just my opinion. |

No feeling it either. The car is already dark and the black grill makes the car look unfinished with 2 holes left in front..... But that's subjective....

Looks good. I'm digging the black grills...doesn't matter what color the car is. Everyone has their own opinion....if not, world would be pretty boring!
Kevin - let me know what kind of paint you use to paint the silver "fins" on the lower part - I was thinking of doing it too - they look out of place with no other silver plastic on the car. Flat black (like the mesh) or gloss (to match the grills)? |

I just got my 535i tinted this weekend. While at the tint place, I had the guy wrap the fins in shiny black vinyl. So at this point, they match the grills and trim which is also shiny black. Now I'll find out how well the vinyl covering will hold up rock and debris abuse from the road.

The ease of installation probably depends on the method and having the correct tool. It's definitely not as easy as the E60, E90, or E92 models. The grills are not accessible from the top from what I can see.
The grills are clipped in. I used a small plastic tool to work in between the grill and the bumper to help work the grill out. Not for the faint of heart. |
