Luxury Seating Package

BMWUSA online configurator seems to have removed the Luxury Seating Package upgrade from the X6 build options. First change I've seen from their website in quite sometime. I understand the website isn't necessarily accurate, but... Guess the massage and ventilated seats have possibly become the latest casualty...

Would take any changes to the Configurator over the next few months with a grain of salt. It is generally incorrect this time of year and best to check with your CA to see what is available.

Sounds good, I agree. Hopefully the grain is there 😄 Also noticed the tow package is missing on the 45e now too.

My salesman / neighbor told me no more cooled seats in 2022 due to supply chain issues. He said my X5 that I picked up last week would be the last one they get at their dealership this year with them.

Those who have luxury seating package, is it something you could go without? I had this as part of my build, but has since been removed. Still not in production, so no way to know if it will come back or what else will be removed, but questioning the value in the massage seats and ventilated seats. Thinking if the executive package also gets removed, I will not be accepting the car once complete.

I love the ventilated seats..when its hot, it cools off the leather really quickly. I'm sure it would be helpful for the cold too. I have it set that when its above 80 to cool off the seats when preconditioning the car. I had this in my previous car and specifically chose this package for that. The massaging seats is a game changer. I drove back from SC to MD and the massaging seats helped keep circulation in my legs so they didn't feel numb. Now its one of those things that I never knew I needed but so happy I have it.

It's unfortunate that these cool features are disappearing...hopefully they will come back soon. With the long wait, its hard to turn down a car but you never want to have any regrets with a purchase like this. If it's important to you then it's worth the way.

Thanks for the feedback on the massaging seats.
So there is a setting to precondition the car? Is that specific the 45e?
We live and travel in the southwest, and wife wants a black interior, so preconditioning would be nice.

I just got an allocation for an x45e, but no luxury seating package (can get multi-countour as a standalone) and no trailer hitch at this time.

Preconditioning is specific to the 45e. I've been told its good to do in extreme hot or cold before driving to get the most out of your battery (not sure if that's true yet) but it also gets the inside to the temp you desire before you get in. If it wasn't hybrid then ventilation would kick on with the remote start feature.

The idea is that you Precondition while plugged in, so you're not using as much battery to get it to temperature.

in ICE models, one can still ventilate without Remote Start, though it's not as effective if wanting to cool a hot cabin because the compressor isn't on. for that, you do need to Remote Start

FYI, the manual states preconditioning while plugged in prior to departure optimizes the range

Thanks for the info. I feel like I have so much to learn. It makes sense to condition when plugged in so you aren't wasting the battery. I just wish the charger was faster.

At home, I have a level 2 and its about 6 hours from 0%. I went to a friends and used the regular plug one and it said 36 hours!! So I will not be preconditioning there.

I got an allocation today after having been on a wait list with another dealer since March. Same issue, luxury seating package removed. However I went to a local dealer today to try our both luxury and mc to do a side by side and the sales girl said she could add stand alone ventilation. My sales rep said she must have some magic code, because they can’t do it in their system. Anyone here know anything about a standalone ventilation?

I think she may have gotten it backward. You can add multi-contour as a stand alone option not ventilated seats.

The luxury seat option is back online to be able to create a custom build code… does that mean it is back? This whole process confuses me.

Also- head’s up for those who need an allocation on a X5 45e. Charleston has some, but the caveat is that it will cost you 1500 in dealer add ons that they are refusing to budge on. If anyone has some leads on current allocations that won’t try and add extra on, I am all ears

The Configurator, especially at this time of year, is often wrong. Check with your CA for what options are current available for builds.

We ordered 22 X5 yesterday and the Luxury Seating package was not available. CA triple checked, great guy. However, you can get multi contour seats but still without massaging. We went with that.

I was in the same boat; at the time of my X6 order (late May) both the Luxury Seating package and the Executive package were not available (CA confirmed). I requested they send an email to their point of contact at Spartanburg and ask if an "exception" be made and possibly add both packages under the assumption they had supply, but were reserving them for the X7, or MY2023. Of course I had no idea if that was the case, but figured it wouldn't hurt to try. After roughly 2 weeks in status 112, my build magically changed and both packages were there. I'm now in status 150 with a build date of July 13. Guess we'll see what happens over the next few weeks, but at least there is a ray of hope.

Just ordered MY2022 X5 xDrive40i. Configurator still has luxury seating package, but was not able to order it. Was able to get Multi-contour separately. (actually was required with Merino)

I have luxury seating on my X7, and love it. Especially for longer drives, can be so comfy. Being that the X5 will not be my primary car--I use my x7 for road trips--it's a real bummer but not a deal breaker for me.
