Yeah if the sunlight hits it just right Ametrin does give it a very purple hue. Most of the time though it passes for a maroonish red. Excited to see pics your daytona violet though!

I was able to order 22 inch wheels with the tow hitch from the factory...in the US. No issues so far.

The tow hitch in the US is a different. In Europe we get an electric folding hitch. I don't see if this would make a difference however.

I think putting them on won't be a problem. In case of an accident because one of the wheels broke when towing a heavy load you will have an insurance (legal?) problem. The car won't be conform with the advised tire size on the registration document.

I have no idea what the rules/regulations in the European Union or Belgium, specifically, may or may not limit. I do know that I special ordered my BMW X5 M50i with 22 inch rims and a FACTORY installed tow hitch, and took delivery at the factory in South Carolina in the United States. I cannot imagine an instance where BMW would supply an automobile that did not meet their safety standards. Beyond that, I got nothing.

is yours a stealth hitch? He mentioned that's what is installed for EU models, which may throw specs off differently for their regulations.

It is very well possible that it is legal and safe in the US. It will probably also be safe in Europe.

The question however is what will happen if you are in an accident when towing something heavy with 22 inch wheels. These are not on the conformity papers of that specific car and might lead to legal / insurance problems.

I think it is only for the 45e and not for the 50i. The 45e has 250 Kg of batteries on the rear axle.

But like you mention if it safe in the US it should also be safe in Europe. Unless the stealth hitch is the problem.

Here in Switzerland is not a problem tow hitch with 22".
I ordered the car like this.

I don't know why in US they have other tow hitch, but I'm glad I have the electric one in Europe.

Do you have a 45e? For the 45e it is not possible to order a tow hitch and 22 inch wheels. I think it is not a problem for the 39d 40i/50i (unless it has a third row)

You are right not possible 22 wheels for 45e with tow hitch.

Don't make sense anyway.

You can have the 45e with this wheels in black but not with tow hitch.
The same car but 50d it's possible. So I assume the problem is not from the wheels.

The only difference is 45e has 160kg more than 50d.

But if I can have this wheels and tow 2700kg so would not be a problem for a 45e with this wheels also. I don't think 40kg more per wheel would be a problem....

Just collected the car from the detailer with CSU + EXOv4 and took the car out for some quick photos over the weekend.

Will need time to go through them but quite like this series with the different light combinations (realised afterwards I'm missing high beam). No laser lights allowed in the local market because of the dash of blue reserved for emergency vehicles. Not fussed as TBH I like the U-shape of the standard LED lights more plus rarely ever is high beam needed here...
