It's so easy to remove and paint. I was thinking of painting red (my car is black).

Is this the infamous piece that BMW forgot to include washers on and tends to clunk when going into turns?

I saw a photo of the F95/96 engine bay at the press demo in Scottsdale earlier last year and the brace under the hood was not painted black. See below.
I wish our cars came with that brace unpainted. But yes, the braces that this is about should have been painted black.

BMW probably forgot which bracing was supposed to be painted black. They would have saved themselves valuable stockholder money by only having to paint only the visible ends of the two side pieces instead of the huge aluminum brace under the hood.
I bet some bean counter got fired over that blunder.
