My g31 5 series touring had this as standard but it would need hooks on the ceiling roof about the headrest to clip into

Is there somewhere in the roof though to clip this into?

Yes...you install items #4, #5, #6, & #7 that is in the same diagram as the divider/net. You will also need the hardware (screws) #8 & #9.

Hey just following this up as looking to buy it for my X5 G05. does it fit it well?

I never purchased the flex net as having the lower tailgate pretty much acts as a good alternative for me.

When I traded in my 2016 x5 for a new 2022 x5 the dealer charged me $500. For the front and rear mats whether 8 wanted them or not.
I decided to keep the trunk mat and it fits well.
I kept the cargo net and it works great along the tailgate.
My carpeted mats were essentially new so I put those in and kept the front and rear rubber bmw mats.

The two hydraulic struts are there because you have the rubber strips that rise up from the cargo floor. That adds a lot of weight to the cargo door, so it requires two struts. Has nothing to do with having a spare or not.

That’s the part where some dealers feel ok to do it and others not.

Feels crazy the hooks are not there from factory.

All the 2024 X5 assessories are really hard to find. OEM stuff hasn't really been made for this vehicle. I called BMW and they said they just have not caught up with supporting this X5, whatever the hell that means.

Folks should look into square totes, I prefer them over cargo nets. Especially if you have the all weather trunk mat, the friction of the rubber mat combined with the flat bottom of the square tote means your stuff isn’t going anywhere.
