Resonator delete

Has anyone performed this, and were there any benefits that we're recommendable and worthwhile?

I did an x pipe to replace the resonator. Definitely an improvement in sound and growl. No drone. Possibly a small power gain.

I'd say do it as its inexpensive, easy to replace back to stock and will improve exhaust note. If you want even morr sound, secondary CAT delete would be the next best thing.

I did this on my 50i and it was meh.... I wouldn't do it again. The resonator has a job to do it its to keep a certain tone, nothing about loudness of the noise. There was a couple earlier posts about this were I linked a good read about them. My take pointless to do if you ultimately plan to do an aftermarket install at some point. For my X5M comp I'm planning full after market cat back. So I ordered the secondary cat delete as a step one and save some pennies to get a mid pipe and muffler next. A mid pipe will already have a built in x pipe or something along the lines of X or H pipe or both.

I plan on doing this. M5 and M8 members seem to have liked the sound increase over stock.

Which resonators are we speaking about? The ones on the mid pipe or the one inbetween the two mufflers in the rear ?

I posted a while back my change and when I went to post the two video's stock and after.... I couldn't tell anything at all via the video so never posted them. lol My hearing might not be as good as others. The only actual time I heard more sound was high in revs moving fast.

Bottom line for me is a resonator just alters the sound tone not really the volume, which is what I was going for more volume so I was a bit bummed.

Here is a fun quick watch of what they actually do.

My post from the other week. Not sure if it’s more beneficial to remove the center muffler

Would be interesting to see/hear the effects. I believe the M5 has a similar setup but the center muffler is much smaller. Some members replaced with a straight pipe.

Back on the old E70 X5M there was an OEM muffler mod that made the stock system sound great. Required cutting the suitcase open and removing the mufflers from within (either one or both on each side) and replacing with straight pipe.

I did this on my M550i with the Dinan X Pipe and loved it. Really woke up the car and gave it a note to match the speed. I have not got under my X5MCS yet, not even sure if an x would work or if I need to run straight though.

X pipe will work just fine. I have one on my x5 Mc and it's good. Nothing crazy but a nice improvement for the money

Does anyone have videos of x-pipe or straight pipe? Just trying to see which one sounds better to me, thanks
