That’s awesome. Can you request for the car to be transported on top ?

I gotta ship both my E46 and E92 from Detroit to Los Angeles next summer and and already looking into them. I want both cars 100% damage free on the other end. Like I’m even paranoid about the E92 being on the bottom row and rocks falling onto the carbon roof from the car above and cracking my CF

Yes. They will accommodate most requests. Though it may not be necessary as some trucks have solid load floors on the upper decks, at least partially. (Maybe trays between the rails like what my garage lift has?)

They have offices in MI, FL and AZ and their fleets follow the big auto-auction houses and move very high end stuff. They don't broker out, have their own fleets and employed drivers. Used several times, but they are priced up.

I don't know about that request. I never worried about it because they cover all cars anyway. But does not seem like an unreasonable request, so worth asking.

When should I ask for a quote?

I just purchased a 2021 M2 Comp that I need to have transported from Mississippi to Oregon some 2600 miles. I intend to use a non-broker company that can do enclosed shipping like Intercity or Reliable.

My car is currently on the boat headed towards Port Brunswick with an estimated arrival of 11/12/20. Since car transport quotes seem to change daily if not hourly, when would be the best time to request a quote? Is it better to ask way in advance similar to buying air plane tickets? Or should I wait until the car lands at the dealership in a few weeks?

Thanks,
-Marc

FYI, anybody interesting in shipping from Southwest (California/Arizona/New Mexico) to entire Northeast area (Pennsylvania and above) or vice versa should expect a quote of roughly $1,000. Add a few hundred if you increase the size, say an X6 over a 325i, it'll cost you $1,400.
That is a basic summation of SW-NW shipping rates during the winter time. During the summertime expects quotes to go up $300 across the board for all vehicles.

My father has been doing this for fifteen years and has textbook knowledge of all rates regarding cross-country shipping. If anybody wants any specific answers, feel free to PM me.

I was super thrilled about the transporter I used. DC Auto Transport, LLC. They use new enclosed rigs with liftgate. The upper deck has a real bottom which would prevent fluids from leaking down to the lower deck.
The driver was super thorough when he picked up the car and noticed a white glue spot underneath the drivers door no bigger than a pinhead. Not only is this outfit run by professionals that treat the cars they transport with kid gloves they were also super cheap.

I had the car transported 2590 miles and only paid $1700. That is a mere 66 cents a mile! I had requested quotes from the reputable transporters mentioned on this board (Reliable Carriers, Horseless Carriage, InterCity etc.) and most either didn't want the business at all or quoted beyond $3k. I was thrilled to see that my car rode the entire trip on the upper deck in the front. Mileage was identical to when it left the dealership. Car went onto the liftgate and the trailer and back out at delivery. Car arrived in the same condition that it left in. They tied the car down correctly as well using only the wheels. Super happy I went this route.

Happy holidays

I'm looking for recommendations on shipping companies to get a car from North Carolina to California. Any negatives with those specific companies would be great too. If you don't mind also sharing how much it cost for your specific shipping needs is also a plus.

I appreciate all responses, thanks guys

I’ve only ever shipped one car. In my case, I needed my brand new F80 M3 shipped from a dealership in Georgia to my preferred local dealership here in Indiana. I had a great experience and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend or use this particular service again.

The service is DeCarteret Transport. I spoke with Kelly DeCarteret. The company’s main number is: (832) 248-2858.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

I, too, have only ever shipped one car. That said, I had an excellent experience using Gartho Logistics to get my E46 M3 shipped via covered transport from IL to MA.

I'd highly suggest giving him a call/email!

I bought my car in San Diego and had it shipped to NC using Auto Transport Team. It was shipped enclosed and arrived within a week. Easy to work with and great service.

Just and FYI, huge number of transport companies are brokers who don't actually ever move or even see your car but instead find other companies that actually do the job. Having a great experience with a broker may or may not mean the next time will be remotely the same.

^ i agree plycar is the absolute best. you can track the truck at all times and the drivers are top notch. wearing gloves and all that so they dont touch your car. I believe all their trucks have a hydraulic lift gate so you never have to worry about ramps scratching your lip.

it was $2000 to ship from NV to MO for me.

I remember the same careful attention given to my car when it was shipped from East Coast to West Coast. In the same trailer, my BMW found McLaren and Corvette as trip partners. Nice company for a coast-to-coast shipment.

Recommendations for a car shipping company

Hi All:

Who do you recommend for long distance shipping? Does anyone have a company or know a reputable company? Open trailer is fine.

Shipping from Bethesda, Maryland to Franklinton, Louisiana within 2 weeks.

Feel free to reply here or PM me. THANKS!

Problem with shippers is it is all put up for bids. I may have had great experience with XYZ and you call the same company but get a different truck/bidder.

If you strike out, ask your car dealership. Speak to the used car manager and ask who they trust. We at dealerships use transporters daily and they should have a good referral for you

For anyone shipping into LA I'd highly recommend checking with Matt Farah at Westside Collector Car Storage. He has his preferred shipper but will work with whomever you want. His team can coordinate the entire thing, accept delivery on your behalf, even detail the car if you want before you pick up. Their main business is high end car storage but they also do one-off services as well.

What is a good service to ship cars?

Looking to ship a car from Portland, OR to Austin, TX. Never done this before, curious if anyone has any company recommendations and can let me know how much to expect to pay for this. Thanks guys. Just a E90 open top. Just need it to get there as affordably as possible.

Just look at the last couple of pages of this post, lots of recommendations already given.
