interior lighting does not work

I turned off the engine but the interior lighting did not turn on.
Even when the door was opened, the lighting did not work either. Also, the lighting did not work when the switch was forcibly pressed. What could it be? Battery??

Perhaps the interior lighting got switched off accidentally or intentionally during a service visit. See the instructions below for turning them off/on permanently. Hold the button in for 3 seconds and see if they come back on.

Have you tried rebooting iDrive? That seems to fix a lot of these software type bugs, assuming this is software related and not hardware.

To reboot - while the car is on - push in the volume knob until iDrive boots off - should take around 30ish seconds.

I had an issue where a part of my interior lighting didn't work any more and this was caused by a malfunctioning in 1 of the lighting strips causing a couple of others to not work anymore either.

For me it was a panel of the skylounge roof that created the issue and it caused the second roof panel and the dashboard strip to fail.

The dealer figured it out. My battery is dying. So the car tries to save energy

Kind of clever. The car is smart enough to limit “non-essential” electrical loads in an attempt to maintain overall functionality.

Makes us look at these issues differently, pointing to a culprit we may never considered before.

Why the heck doesn't the car give some kind of warning that the battery charge is low. It knows it's low why couldn't it throw a message on the screen warning you about low battery charge.

Some times I just don't get what BMW is thinking on their designs and functionality.
