Confused about Military Incentive

Hey guys, I am hoping someone can clear up my confusion. Is anyone familiar with the Discount for Military members living in the U.S.?

On the BMWUS website it says "contact dealer" but then my dealer said "contact USAA". I feel like the dealer may be confusing these incentives. I can't find much information online, but the BMWUS website does state that this is manufacturer incentive.

Thanks in advance

USAA no longer is involved with BMW or any manufacture as they got rid of their car buying service. The military incentive is now being offered through PenFed and you must be a member for at least 60 days in order to qualify for the incentive. I believe that is the only incentive that is offered to active duty in the US.

Thanks for the reply. It looks like the USAA and PenFed incentives are different from the incentives I was talking about as far as I understand. I dont know if they are inclusive or not.

I finally found some information. I was given this link by a dealer in MA: https://www.bmwusa.com/special-offer...incentive.html

Once you enter, you can use ID.me to verify your status. Once you do that, it unlocks pricing for you. Right now, the incentive varies by vehicle, but for an X5 you are looking at $3,250. The BMW Military Incentive is available to active duty, retired, reserve, veteran military personnel, or USAA member and their immediate families in the United States.

Maybe this was established once USAA pulled out of offering incentives. Who knows

That looks like it is the same incentive as PenFed. Currently that is $3,250 also. They probably set this up since not as many folks use PenFed as USAA. I'm going to sign up to check but my guess is that incentive will drop to $500 if you finance or lease with BMWFS.

Thanks for the info.

I got verified and the offers seem to be the same as with PenFed. The wording says "up to $3,250" so the same rules probably apply where it drops to $500 if you lease or finance with BMWFS.

I read the fine print and it looks like you cannot use BMWFS if you use this incentive.

Since I bank with USAA, it's good to see I am still able to use this incentive regardless of USAA dropping it. Im shopping around for an X5!

You should be able to use it but it would drop to $500.

I took delivery of a 45e this past Saturday and the dealer honored the previous $500 USAA discount by discounting my winter wheel set using BMWFS. They said the $3250 incentive is for cash purchases, so it was either that or the current APR credit of $2500 plus honoring the $500 USAA discount.

Yes, the rules for the military incentive on BMW's site should be the same as it was for USAA and now PenFed. If BMWFS is used for leasing or financing then the incentive is $500 and if not then it is the full amount for that model.

USAA LINK

PENFED LINK

For Lease or Finance through BMWFS:
Either USAA or PENFED can be stacked on top of BMWFS incentives for $500

For Purchase/Finance outside BMWFS:
Cannot be combined with any BMWFS incentives

This is not correct. The rules are as I stated above.

This is exactly what you stated but with links to the actual sites.

No it isn't. It can be combined with some BMW incentives when not using BMWFS. That part wasn't in my screenshot.

As an aside, USAA no longer offers their car buying service and you can not get an incentive from them. You need to use either PenFed or the BMW site mentioned above to get the military offer sheet. It could be that they are also using Truecar, I don't know.

Perhaps it is a difference in the source of the incentive. Could it be that some are BMWFS and some BMWNA. The BMWFS wouldn't be combinable but BMWNA are? I don't know if incentives like drive events are not BMWFS.

that language is really confusing for sure!

For example because this is an X5 forum:

Lease:

$500 lease cash
$1000 loyalty
$500 USAA/Penfed

Finance:

$2500 APR credit
$1000 Loyalty
$0 USAA/PENFED

Non BMWFS purchase:

$3250 rebate

The reason I post is because some think you can combine $2500 APR + $1000 loyalty + $3250 USAA/PENFED + 1.9% financing for 60 mo through BMWFS...that would be amazing especially for active service members but sadly it doesn't work like that

It is confusing. Your purchase is incorrect, you get $500 when you finance with BMWFS.

Edit: This is last year's stackibility chart but I don't think anything has changed. Type J does stack with loyalty and conquest.

To confirm: the amount drops to $500 if you lease or finance with BMW Financial and washes against other incentives. Tried to add it onto my lease and didn't change the numbers at all. Only thing that happened is I used up my yearly certificate. Still happy with my deal but was trying to maximize and didn't read the fine print re: "up to..."

This is not correct from what I and others have experienced. The $500 definitely can be combined with other incentives when leasing as shown in the stackability matrices.

This post is a hot one

I’ve read a couple of threads on this, and my understanding is also that you can indeed get the $500 in addition to loyalty and APR. I am too far from delivery to find out myself, but it seems at least some people have had success stacking this way. That doesn’t mean that all dealers are aware of this, but I plan on pushing when it gets closer to my late Feb pick up.

I just took delivery of a purchased 45e 2 weeks ago. alone, i qualified for X5's $3200 military incentive but since I had better incentives to finance with BMWFS, i went with that. my dealer included the lowered $500 military AND loyalty discounts

haha totally! Clearly, this is confusing not just to me! I saw that ($500 + loyalty) on other threads as well, but was confused about the BMW site and how it was explained there. I am hoping I can include the $500 on top of loyalty and APR. We'll see
