Replace battery warning?

Left my brand new X5MC to get PPF and ceramic this week. Car had about 40 mi and wasn’t driven until I dropped off at the shop.

Picked up this am and shop tells me the replace battery annunciator came on though the car started up. They left it running and I drove home for about 45 min. Warning still on and came back on after I shut the car off and restarted.

The shop says they had doors and trunk lid open a bunch while doing the PPF, but is it possible that could drain a battery and prevent it from recharging?

Leaving town so concerned I’m coming home to a dead battery on a new car. Did not have a chance to get a trickle charger, but if the battery can’t recharge, not sure it would matter.

I've read in another thread on the forum, someone trickle charged it and still had issue but when the dealer took a look they did a reset of the software and all was well. It could be it caused the alarm and for some reason the alarm is not clearing even though the batter may check out to be fine. Worth a shot. ..

Thanks. Is the software reset something anyone can do or does it require a dealer?

Dealer is the only way I know.

Not sure what year you have but there have been recalls for the batteries in these things. One for software, once for cable, and one for the actual battery.... Maybe you got a lucky fin for one of those.
