So I decided to unload my wife's 2018 X5M bc it was just overkill for her. In the 14 months we had it, she never even programmed her M buttons, or changed the default settings!! I knew the X5M would be more for me than her, but I'm the car nut, and she supports my addiction, to a point. I loved our X5M beast (when driving alone), but whenever I drove with her in the passenger seat, it was a major buzzkill!! Lol

Anyway, I thought the X5 M50i would be a nice compromise. A couple of months ago, I found an M50i at a relatively close dealership and was excited to give it a go. It had 20" no-seasons and no DHP, and I left the test drive underwhelmed. Long story short, my local dealer thought I was ready to pull the trigger on a custom build back in Sept. I had given them a couple of builds. I did not know they modified one for me. Fast forward to Nov and I see the rates improve and I contact my dealer bc I see they have M50i with 22" and DHP.
Well surprise, surprise, that was one of my custom builds I shared with them back in Sept. I test drove it and loved it. Only problem, they mistakenly ordered me the black 742M and not the bi-color. They were willing to get me another allocation, but I ended up striking a killer deal and just purchased an extra set of bi-color 742M for 3 seasons of the year, and the black 742M with Pirelli snows for the winter.

I'll give more impressions once I slowly break her in, compared to the X5M, but the X5M is on another level, as are all genuine ///M cars. Again, I just think the M50i is a nice middle ground for us.

A few quick pics from my attempt at a detail in 30 degree weather. Unfortunately, Carbon Black Metallic is going to be the end of me. Bc I didn't get the car once it came off the truck, the dealer swirled the paint significantly. I have more to try tomorrow when a little warmer, but it may be as good as it's going to get without taking it for a full paint correction, and I'm too cheap!! Hell, just take a look in some of the pics of my $2 front yellow reflector delete with left over black sapphire wrap from my X5M (did the same thing to my X5M). I thought the BSM would look like sh!t against CBM, but it isn't half bad and I'm not paying $120+ for painted reflectors. I'll work on the paint some more over time. I'll add some more pics in/out after a final clean up tomorrow.

EDIT: More pics added to posts below

Last time I bought a car I wanted for my wife was 2011; black sapphire e71 X6.
I learned my lesson the hard way and now she picks (with some parameters). She's happy; I'm happy.

DHP man; the more I hear about it the more pumped I get. My inbound M50i replaces GMC trucks and SUVs - my wife couldn't stand the size and the body roll - hoping the active stabilization combined with the all wheel steering make it feel like smaller, lower. I have rear wheel steering in my 911 and it shrinks the car like 4' - it's ridiculous on that thing, but the perfect application IMO would be for a longer wheel base like an SUV or a truck.

I like the wrap for the reflectors - I've got to see if I can find an arctic grey match; way better than paying for/installing the painted ones. I even priced out diy painting them and it's just too much work+cost.

Very nice.
I have Black Sapphire Metallic X5 and wish I had seen this post earlier. I would like to wrap the reflectors just like you did in the same color. However, I have just purchased the IND reflectors but didn't realize it's so much work to replace them.
If anyone wants IND Black Sapphire Metallic reflectors then contact me. I'll sell them for $100 + shipping. I haven't even touched these yet. In original IND packaging.

body roll is virtually non-existent with the DHP, it'll blow you away especially coming from that GM garbage

Yes, please do. I can't decide between the all black or 5 star look with the 22s... I'm going with BSM exterior and like both in their own way..

Negative. My old e90 and the g05.

As much as I liked the x4 it was too niche when it came to numbers .

Need to do a couple mods first before I post .
