Been using it on my 2021 G05 X5 xDrive40i since November.
It has been great, I feel the power gain at higher RPM.
Car feels lighter.

i just contacted RACECHIP about the 45e, and they have a build for that so I ordered the GTS BLACK of course.
Anyone know of an installer in LOS ANGELES/ORANGE COUNTY? I think I can do it myself, but would rather pay for the install.

Edited: I just saw RGSport is in SoCal. I'll contact you this weekend. My Racechip is tracked to arrive on Saturday and my 45e will arrive Sunday. I can book an install for end of next week.

My kit came in the mail today. It has a C label on another cable but the installation video for the b58 only shows A and B. What is C for?

C is for Cam Sensor.

Here is the PDF file on where they are supposed to be connected.

I'm interested in hearing about your results with your 45e. Obviously, I'm curious about performance improvements but also if you're seeing any improvement in MPG with the ICE. I take a few longer trips annually and would love to maximize fuel efficiency when I'm forced to use ICE.

Thanks, RJ. Got it all installed but a little unsure about where I secured (ziptied) the cables. I'll take pictures and post them here. I just want to make sure I have them in safe areas including where I mounted the racechip device.

Thank you for this. I accidentally attached the C part of the harness to the wrong sensor... fortunately I was able to fix it with this pdf.

Does the eco, sport and race modes of the Racechip override eco, comfort and sport/plus on the X5? Or do they compliment it (aka ~21 unique settings: eco x 7 tuning steps, comfort x 7, sport x 7, etc.)?

Thanks!

I'm looking to purchase a piggyback for the xDrive40i. My area only has 91octane- which tune do you all recommend - JB4, Racechip, Dinantronics?

What Map for 91? I have a JB4 on my N54 and there was a auto-map, but these piggybacks for the B58 don't seem to have an auto-map.

Map 7 is tuned for 91 minimum.
It will produce more power automatically with 93 or higher.

Had JB3 back in day for my N54 335 and am running JB4 map 2 (catless dp, m performance exhaust, bms intake) on my x5. I believe map 1 is for 91 octane with no other mods. It runs great and the app is great. Didn't have with the jb3.

My instructions show the C sensor being the one next to the oil fill cap, that's. Wrong then?

Hey all,

So, what motor differences exist between the B58 in the G05 X40i and the X3 M40i? What components of the X3 M40i engine are different, hardened etc. vs the motor in the X5 40i. As you are aware, the X3 M40i I6 motor has, what, 50 extra HP vs the larger and heavier X5 (which makes no sense to me), so, when we start adding boost to the X5 40i variant of the motor are we at risk because we have less capable components in the motor (or fuel pumps / injectors).

Thanks!

Idk why, but I feel like this thread has pushed me towards Dinan. But to each his own. Not too familiar with mods/tuning.

TLDR; No, there's no significant risk because there are no significant differences.

The G05 X40i has the B58B30M1 mill, and the G01 X40i has the B58B30O1 unit. The "M1" is the "medium" power version and the "O1" the "upper" version. The "1" indicates that both are the "Technical Update" (TU) versions.

There are just a few hardware differences. For example, the M has a "cylinder head-integrated exhaust manifold" and the O a more traditional "non cylinder head-integrated exhaust manifold". The turbos are also different as a result. Details on the differences between the B58 and B58TU engines, and some information about the differences between the M and O variants in the attached. See pg 5, for example, regarding the different heads.

Now, as to why the X3 M40i has a more powerful engine than the X5 40i, the reason is the "M". Since it's supposed to be a higher-performance vehicle, regardless of the size/weight, it needs more HP to create that effect. And, the tuning is a little more aggressive, which heightens the difference.
