Skip PPF on hood and fenders?

I just took delivery of my new X5 and am looking to put Xpel PPF in the coming weeks. I'm definitely getting the front bumper, rear bumper, mirrors, and rocker panels. I've had the full hood and fenders done on my F30 because I didn't want to see the line, but for this X5, given how much taller it is, do you guys think it's wise to save some money and skip out on doing the full hood and fenders? I also had the headlights done on the F30 as well but don't think that was really needed. Anybody noticing rock chips on the hood and fenders from just regular driving? Should I get the headlights done as well?

I would say full hood is a must and fenders, rockers, headlights, mirrors. I have full PPF and have noticed the hood getting dinged with sandy debris. PPF has saved me from hood chips I am sure. I live in Ontario where there tends to be lots of crap on the roads after the winter months so it may be just where you live and what they put on the roads. I can't imagine it's much different in Boston? I also notice that the wider summer tires tend to kick up a lot of stuff from the road surface up against the rockers and behind the fenders.

Hood and front end will definitely get pelted. If your leasing doesn't make sense but if you own, I'd recommend full hood and fenders plus other locations you've mentioned.

I understand it's inevitable that something will hit my hood and fenders if I don't protect it but how frequently are we talking about? @Auricon, you make it sound like your car is getting sandblasted every time you drive it, lol. The car won't be driven all that much. Maybe 7000 miles a year. Are people seeing their hoods riddled with rock chips in the first year?

Nah, it's not as bad as I made it sound like but I have 7K miles and there are 8 small chips on various spots of the hood.

Everyone's road area is different but BMW's latest vehicle designs especially X SAVs have more vertical and large surfaces to get chipped. Most of my driving is 70-75mph+ on a 22 mi stretch of Express Lanes that's littered with road debris. If I owned a X7 I'd definitely get the entire front end done.

I've read BMW paint is "soft". if this is true, then probably more susceptible to rock chips, but if it's a lease, it'll likely be within tolerances upon its return

This is not a lease and I plan on keeping it for a while. 8 chips a year would bother me... Hmmm 🤔🤔🤔

Are the rockers necessary? I am doing front end but rockers would be another $300 or so. I’m already spending $4500 for ppf, ceramic, and tint so not sure I want to do more
