You have a good dealer, replacement, wow. I never buy sunroof for they are always a liability, will you get another sunroof in your new build?

there is more than just a roof leak, there is leather issues, plus they did flood my car with water headliner and carpeting. Also i have a feeling they are not saying something. they kept the car for two weeks and i am hearing difference excuses as to what is going on with the car.

hard to say, they are not being very talkative about the actual issue. Dealer said they are looking to get it replaced. But i havent heard anything from bmwna yet to confirm that is going to be the case.

In Australia standard. Hate sunroofs so asked to have the "option" deleted even if there would be no reduction in purchase price. Nope, take it or leave it, it comes with a sunroof.

Hi, I wanted to know how you got BMW to replace your car. I ordered one and received it end of May and this is now the 2nd time the dealership has had it for the same type of leak. The first time I had taken it to the dealership just for a car wash and they notified me it had leaked water through the passenger side. They replaced the seal and sent me on my way a few days later. Not for the 2nd time it has been in the shop for over a week. My passenger felt water on their head and looked up and we saw all of the water. I took a video of her pressing on the liner and water pouring down her arm. Also took it to the dealer that afternoon and the Service Mgr saw the same thing. Today the service Director again told me they cannot get the vehicle to leak after car washes, running hose, etc. I have never opened the sun roof it is over 90 degrees in FL and have no desire to have it open! I have been in contact with BMW USA and they will not replace the vehicle so please HELP !!! What steps did you go through to get a new vehicle? Thanks

Bleh. Moon roof leak today in May 2019 build X5 m40i. Was able to take it straight to the dealer and drop it off while its still leaking. Water dripping down from the driver side mic. Car has been through many a torrential Florida downpour in the 5 months i've owned it and first time it started leaking. Car is garaged or covered parking so no chance of debris blocking drain tubes etc. OP mentioned a service bulletin about this issue: anyone know what the bulletin number/description is? Thanks in advance!

Ugh, service advisor said its a manufacturing defect in the sunroof cassette assembly and cannot be repaired and entire cassette assembly must be replaced. Luckily the newly expanded BMW parts depot in Nazarath, PA has it in stock but it will be a week or so to get parts to Florida and installed. Dealer gave me a new x5 loaner to drive while I wait and its exactly the same color inside and out as mine, so I am not complaining!

Are they also going to replace your headliner with a new one?

Good question, I didn't ask, but I will. My gut says more than likely not, as it was a small area and immediately detected upon first leak and car also protected immediately from further water intrusion. They will have to change the mic and perhaps any nearby electronics as that was soaked.

I was lucky it leaked while I was driving and also that I was less than 5 miles from my dealer when it did!

My car was leaking through the passenger side microphone this morning. My car delivered in November last year.

Those that have had this replaced or fixed, how was the repair?
