All you have to do is swipe up and it will remove Apple Pay so that an app like Waze runs in the foreground.

Just picked up my x5. Latest software, and I'm getting that apple pay issue as well. Annoying, but definitely can deal with it.
Anyone else notice how slow it charges the phone (iphone X) though? |

I got my X5 last week and have this problem. It also overheated my phone and didn't charge it, but did keep it charged. I think it was so busy trying to pay that maybe it messed with my battery. I had to do a force restart on my phone because all wireless chargers stopped charging after using it. I'm also concerned that today my card was randomly removed from Applepay because of a compromise. I haven't used Apple Pay in 2 weeks except when it shows up in the car. But now that it was removed, I'm not having an issue. But I love Apple Pay when I use it. 😢

When I put my iPhone xs in and get the Apple Pay display, I swipe up immediately and it doesn't come back. It charges just fine and doesn't get hot.

It’s a pain in the arse. Even when I swipe up it still acts funky. I can’t read iMessages sometimes from CarPlay. I have to take it out the cradle.

Hi all. I just updated to the latest iOS version (12.2) on my iPhone Xs and it *seems* like the Apple Pay issue has gone away. I've only done a couple of rides in my 2019 G05 X5 since the update, but the Apple Pay screen did not come up when I placed the phone in the wireless charger tray.
I did speak with a BMW Genius on the phone, and he said they were working with Apple on the problem, but couldn't confirm whether it was a BMW or Apple update needed. He simply suggested I update. Could others try the same and verify?

I was just updated to 3/2019.48 and still have the Apple Pay issue with my iPX 12.3.1 in the wireless charging tray.
My service manager says there is an SI out on this issue. In my case, they have ordered a replacement wireless charging tray. I likely will not get at this until I return from Germany so we'll see what happens.

In my case, I don’t have the wireless charger or heated/cold cup holders. For the first two weeks the digital key was sitting on the charging space, and I always plug in my phone and place it in the bin right next to it.
After I activated the digital key, I though it best not to leave it in the car. Ever since, my phone boots up Apple Pay every time I put it in the same bin (not on the charging pad). Seems like the key card blocked whatever signal generates the Apple Pay activation. I know you can deactivate the key card and leave it in the car, and maybe I should do that. Annoys me to have Apple Pay active every time I look at my phone. |

The BMW Digital Key uses NFC to communicate. Apple Pay uses NFC to communicate. Its not far fetched to believe there is a correlation between the NFC implementation in the BMW and its triggering of the Apple Pay "issue". It would be interesting to see if people put the Digital Key on the NFC pad, and then put the phone on top of the Digital Key, if the Apple Pay "issue" occurs....note that this will almost certainly stop the Qi charging from working. Just an interesting experiment to see what happens.

Nor does it prevent the Apple Pay issue (or I should say nor DID it stop the Apple Pay issue, since my Apple Pay issue would happen with or without a NFC card in the cradle between the phone and the charge, but iOS 12.2 fixed my Apple Pay issue.) That said, it may fry your NFC-enabled keycard, so I would avoid doing this. |
