If you want shine, go for a carnauba wax! I can recommend Polishangel Rapidwaxx.
You shouldn't wax over ceramic coating

I was never given a reason but I could find out.

Edit: apparently some of the chemicals in waxes can hurt the coating from what I read. It's ok if you use a strictly pure carnauba wax

also waxing will negate some of the reasons for using ceramic like repealing water to the same degree or could causing marring on the ceramic. Waxes aren't designed to be put over ceramic coatings

I think it could be additive but you may want to use their products fully if you intend to use their leather barrier to be safe. I actually use the Zaino products on my C63, but since it is ivory and has a lot of color transfer from jeans, I also use Leather Masters Leather Barrier on top of it to help with the jean transfer, the Gyeon stuff would also help with that.

With a base coating of Gyeon, do you think, in your experience, worth using Zaino products on it thereafter? I'm thinking that since there's a protection layer on it with Gyeon, then adding anything on top doesn't help because it doesn't penetrate thru the protection layer...? Wrong concept? Thanks

I would be interested to hear your findings because i think most of this is incorrect. A ceramic coating is designed to be harder than the clear coat so you should not induce any marring if you add a quality carnauba wax or sealant as long as it is NOT a cleaner wax or polish with any abrasives in it.

As for repealing water, waxes have their own properties for this so it will just react differently until the wax itself dissipates.

However, this is just my speculation and I could be completely wrong. It has definitely happened before lol

That's what I found by doing some checking, I could also ask a few companies directly. I agree about the marring but ceramic can still get scratches it's just harder to do

I teach a detailing class through PCA. I have tried a lot of products and own too many to count. I did try the oem BMW leather care for the forum and it is pretty good stuff. Not greasy and easy to apply. It has a UV protectant in it. For new leather, I would start with this and it should be all you need. It will also soften up the new leather. Treat it now when new and it will always look great. Biggest mistake many do is wait until the leather looks like it needs treated to start a leather feeding. That’s like waiting until your house plant is almost dead to start watering it.

Here is a BMW all purpose cleaner that is used on leather and carpets. I really like this stuff. (Ivory Merino owners needs this in their kit)

Thanks for that. I thought I saw you post previously about the Gyeon products?

I don't have a preference, just looking to learn which is best for my leather.

My top choice is Sonax cleaner and Sonax conditioner. It goes on so light and non greasy.
That said, the BMW products are very good and ideal for new leather.

Used them all...
Like Zaino #9 & #10 best.
Must be only one not on Amazon, etc.
Direct from Zaino only I think.

Same product or possibly a different Sonax product given the “professional” title? https://www.detailedimage.com/Sonax-...83/1000-ml-S1/

Just might be a larger size. Looks like it’s same stuff.

I ended up ordering the Zaino and will see how it works out. Thanks for all of the input.

On my prior vehicle (4Runner), it took 10+ years of getting in and out to create some minor wear marks on the driver's outside upper edge - and that was with no leather treatment, so I feel like I'm way ahead on the X5!
