FWIW, I've had buggy behavior on my F15 with IOS 12.*. Nothing quite as frustrating as what @MikeElmendorf is describing, but things are not working as well as they once did. For example, trying to use Siri to read or send a text message now always fails the first time I press the microphone button (it just hangs then returns to music), but works the second time after it's failed once. I guess it's possible that some of these problems are (partially) Apple's fault.

I’ve experience similar in my E70. General poor functionality with what’s displayed on the screen not matching what’s playing. Skipping, popping, static and the need to turn the radio on/off t get Bluetooth to work. This had been happening for years - BMW stopped providing any software updates for the platform within a year of my driving my new E70 off the lot.

It’s crappy because I’m sure BMW will say it’s Apple’s fault and Apple will point the finger at BMW. In either case, it never worked right but it worked passably.

Bottom line - whatever BMW does to resolve, at some point they will move on and stop providing support. I bought at the end of the E70 production so it happened right away to me...

I think I figured out why I did NOT get the ApplePay screen when putting my iPhone XS Max on the G05 wireless charging pad.

I don't use a phone lock passcode on my iPhone, which is required for Apple Pay.

If that's the case, not really a true solution for others, as it disables some iPhone functions and security. But if true, anyone that really wanted to get around the ApplePay screen might try it.

Interesting! Really is pretty amazing the folks at BMW did not notice this problem before the shipped the car. All those postings of months of disguised road testing they did and nobody tried an iPhone? Seems like such an improbable thing not to find.

Is the digital key working yet for the iPhone? When I tried to add one it didn't work.

Sorry I do not remember the location, but I saw a post here where it was said the digital key only works with the Samsung 7 and higher.

For me, this begs the question if iPhones will be included in a timely way.

Apple literally just released the programming interface to this, and it will likely take App developers some time to get this into their coding sprints, and even when they do, it usually takes a few iterations to get things just right.

BMW ConnectedDrive would have to be the app that gets updated, and history has proven over time that they don't really update with new features very frequently.

Has anyone found a solution to stopping ApplePay from coming up when placing an iPhone in the charging cradle? I find it difficult to work with due to the location of the cradle and especially since I have a radar detector plugged into the front port and on occasion have a cold drink in place as well.

I keep asking my CA and IT people here locally but that has proven to be a waste of time.

Does the iPhone XS Max fit in the standard (non heated/cooled cupholder) charging tray? I know the orientation is different, but is the size of the charging cradle the same for both versions?

My experience has been that as long as I do not have a credit/debit card entered in my "Wallet" on my iPhone, Apple Pay does not show up.

If I put my AMEX info into the iOS Wallet app, Apple Pay shows up when I place my phone on the charger.

For me it, was very simple to live without my payment info in the wallet. I usually always have my cards in my pants pocket anyway.

Ugh. I drive around town with only my Apple Watch to pay for most things and not have to worry about my wallet much less my iPhone.

Do you mean 11/2018.45? If so, how long did the upgrade take?

I have 11/2018.43 and have the ApplePay issue.

I just got my X5 back after software update and DSC recall work. When I get a chance I'll check the software version but I did notice CarPlay to be solid and I didn't get the Apple Pay notification anymore.

When I got the update to the .45 the Apple Pay didn't show up, but some how the gremlins got back in and it's showing up again.

Yes it does fit.

FWIW, that's my picture there, that I believe also (partially) answers the question of ApplePay. Because I don't use a passcode for my iPhone XS Max in that picture, when I put my phone in the charging tray, ApplePay doesn't come up. (passcode is required for ApplePay) Not a great solution, but could be a workaround if somebody is really trying to avoid it.

Along with the issue of ApplePay, does anyone else have phone overheating issues? I wireless charge my phone all the time, but in the X5 the phone gets so hot it overheats and apps get really sluggish or the phone just totally freezes up. I have stopped putting the phone on the charging tray. Just me or does anyone else with an iPhone X see this? Sorry if answered elsewhere...

I did get the overheating too. I always cleared that Apple Pay window but I eventually deleted my cc so Apple Pay would t always show. I haven’t had the overheating since. I’m still on .23 tho FYI.
