Take this post for what it is worth.
I asked the BMW Genius during my delivery on Monday about the laser lights. He said there is a partial covering on the lights that is preventing their full illumination. He said when NHTSA approves them dealers can remove the covering. I am suspect of this because it is my understanding that the light assembly is sealed and cannot be opened Anyone know what is really going on?

I have Launcher Pro V3.2.1.158 which is the latest from TM's website and E-SYS 3.32.0. I still have access to his site if he comes out with an update.

Lucky you! I don't have access to those versions so I can't test it out.

I also recall reading that some years of F15 could not be coded as well because the hardware was different..i think it was F15..or F30. Let's really hope there hardware limitation..normally there is not. And i have no hope for NHTA....if it happens, it will be years from now..probably my next lease..

Seems odd that it'd be a hardware issue if all US cars come with a line item on the spec sheet that says the car has been coded for no anti-dazzle. It seems like BMW is stating upfront that it's a coding issue.

Except there are some hidden codes and logic behind them can be changed. For example, no 8S4, but also disabled as well as OMSA no longer adds ASS memory. Hardware just adds additional level of prevention along with potential to remove when laws change.

This thread is always so interesting. I just really hope we find a simple solution to get the real power and anti-dazzle performance like the rest of the world gets. It was a MAJOR selling point for me and I hate that I can’t really use it. 😞👎

Is your location inaccurate? Or are you using US-HW/SW in ECE region?

For G30, coding is not completely crippled by Fusi, but could be optimally enabled with hw-tweak. |

There was an earlier post saying that laser lights are only activated using the automated headlight function.
This morning I was on surface streets and one stretch was dark enough that the automated function triggered the headlights. A few minutes later, I manually turned on the headlights. I noticed that the automated function resulted in a short delay of the headlights coming on whereas the manual approach was immediate. What I could not see was a difference in illumination. In fairness, this was not an isolated road in the mountains but metro surface streets which is far from ideal when judging headlights. I have wanted to test this on the turnpike, but at 6 am there are too many lights from vehicles for the automated function to trigger.
