Knee Airbag Remedy Available

FYI, I just happened to check my VIN again with the BMW recall search. It now shows as “Remedy Available” for campaign 23V-471.

Going to reach out to my SA to see if I can set up the repair. Sounds like it’s a pretty quick one hour affair.

Wonder how quickly the parts get out into the field.

Yes, the parts started arriving at dealers a couple of weeks ago if I remember correctly.

Ok good to hear. As recently as Friday for me it still showed as remedy unavailable. So thought this was progress.

Does this just mean there is an assigned part at my dealer for my repair?

The first repairs we saw were done the last week of July so the parts have been out so not sure why it took so long for the remedy available to show. It would not mean that your dealer has the part for your vehicle since the dealer would need to order it since you can go to any dealer.

Scheduled for remedy this Friday. Asked for a courtesy 8.5 upgrade while there, but was denied.

Garage List
Mine switched to remedy available and the very next day the sales center called to say come pick up the vehicle it’s ready for delivery. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Is there anyone that has had this recall performed on a X5 already in service? Are the parts ordered in advance to make this an easy one trip affair? Or do they need to inspect and then order, requiring two visits?

The reason I ask is that I thought it would be one trip and scheduled a visit just for this recall repair. I just picked up my X5 after they said they needed to order the parts...essentially having my car for 2 hours with nothing being done. I questioned why and they initially didn't know, but came up with the answer later that they had to inspect so they know what to order. I'm very doubtful based on how it was presented to me. I did find the recall notice online, but it wasn't specific if the parts could be ordered in advance or after inspection. I will link it here for others benefit... https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/202...3V471-3784.pdf

Anyway, just curious as I'm not particularly pleased with other areas of this dealership and wondering if this is another strike against them or not. Thanks all.
