I got 20 something on mostly highway driving yesterday. I finally set the mpg display on my instrument cluster and will monitor more closely. I expect decent fuel efficiency only after break-in.

What is this ”mpg” I am reading about? I sit in the driveway reving up my V8TT listening to the M exhaust burble and pop.
Priorities, priorities. Seriously, if you are in the North East, search out Sunoco fuel. 93 or 94 is all I run in the good cars. I can tell a difference in my P-Cars |

Years ago I had a spreadsheet I built that would graph mileage, lifetime mileage, miles per tank, fuel price, etc. I would input the receipt and current odometer reading. Now I just use the onboard computer for this info (or maybe I just care less now ).

Prices were higher a few weeks ago ranging from $3-3.35, but this isn't much better. As I mentioned prices where I live tend to be the most expensive in the state. It's not a big deal to me, plus I usually pay more for top tier fuel (has cleaning additives) depending on which station I visit.

If it were only 10 - 15 cents in my area, I'd do what you do and not even think about it. Where I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, the difference for premium is $3.05 for a low to $3.79. I'm not going to ignore a 20% swing just on principle. Last edited by sygazelle; 01-01-2019 at 07:50 PM.. |

No. Its my wife's car and she didn't want to be too flashy. Not her style and I like that about her. After seeing some of the photos posted by owners, I think it looks pretty nice. Maybe next time.

My wife likes the look of the crystal but its just not her. Its her car and we sat down and built it together. I tried to squeeze as many things I want into the build and still respect the fact that its her car. If there was something that she wanted/didn't want that I was in strong disagreement, I would have nudged her. Luckily, that wasn't necessary. She had no interest in the leather dash or the merino leather but happily went along. We've been married over 40 years. Give-and-take and collaberation work for us. On the other hand, I have a friend that buys his wife's car for her without any input from her. Beautiful cars but she hates them and she hates him (literally) for making her choices for her. If she'd gone to the dealer she may have picked the very same car and loved it because it was her choice. My friend will never understand that nuance. |

She wouldn't go and get her own car, but then hates her husband for probably picking up too many nice options for her! |

a response about crystal gear shift knob yes/no decision process and I embellshed about a friend who does not include his wife in choices the car he choses for her. Sure, she could go buy her own. Sorry for inadvertantly leading us off topic. |

I'm not sure why someone would think their opinion on a vehicle would make their spouse happy (since this has happened before) so I'll stay out of that

After about 700 miles, I'm getting 19mpg in about 75% stop/go and 25% highway. This is 2mpg better than my E70 (in similar conditions) and I'm still in break-in phase.
Edit - per following texts. Mine is a 40i Last edited by lumpydog; 01-19-2019 at 08:28 PM.. |

40i? We'll need more info like what type of driving, drive modes used, style of driving , (moderate, aggressive etc) and as lot not info or that's a meaningless statement

Yeah... somethings not right. I got 21.3 on our last road trip with a Thule on top doing 85 most of the time... includes city driving at destination. It was a little higher just highway.
