Oil change suggested past 10k miles. OK?

I am on a road trip with my family through few national parks. We've put 3000 miles in 10 days or so. Currently car has 9600 on odometer, but service reminder says that oil change is due in 1200 miles. In fact just got reminder in the app today.
I thought oil change is every 10k (or a year). If I follow app and car directions, it will have oil changed at around 10800 miles.
I am new to BMW, is this normal with mostly highway mileage?
Figuring if I should try to make service around 10k or I can make it back home and do it when car suggests?

The oil changes are condition based not a set number of miles so go by the service reminder. I drive a lot of highway and mine has always shown more than 10k between changes.

If I look at my car, 2 weeks old and 1500km. It says oil change in 29000km or june 2022.
Does oil have to be changed more frequently in the US?

Look at what TurtleBoy wrote above, the answer is literally there. Having said that, I'd never go as far as 30k km on the same oil

I change my oil yearly at a maximum, no matter if the Service indicator says there's still miles to go, unless of course it says earlier, then will do it earlier.

I just like the engine running smoothly all the time.

The oil situation - from my experience - depends on many factors, have you run in the car properly at the start, have all the seals bedded in properly, etc... do you drive in sports mode most of the time, are you mostly highway miles or stop start traffic in a city.

I'd definitely do an oil change when the indicator says you should at a bear minimum, to not have any adverse affects on any future warranty claims, but then again, I change my oil before that ever happens anyway.

I doubt your car has enough km on the clock for that to be accurate. As you drive and rack up the km, it will become more accurate and then, like TurtleBoy said, the algorithms in your cars cpu will indicate when you should change it. Of course you can decide to change it earlier at your cost but if you do, simply change the oil and filter and do not reset the service interval reminder. In this case, the algorithm won't know you changed it and you will still be on your cars schedule to have it done for free by BMW (if in fact Euro cars get the free oil changes). This of course means if you do change it, you either do it yourself or by an indie because if you ask BMW to change it before your service indicator recommends it, they either won't do it or will charge you for it because they go by the service indicator.
