iPhone holder that would not damage warm/cold cupholders?

Next month, I will be on the road alone for 2 1/2 weeks. There are times when having my iPhone at my fingertips would be an advantage rather than out of reach behind a drink in the charging cradle.

I see ads like this one below, but what would be a safe solution? I am not interested in a vent mount or another other part of the dash. Thanks.

The safe solution is to not operate your iPhone while operating your vehicle.

+1 to the above. Although I don't see how that holder would cause any more damage than a bottle/can of drink

My wife is always on the road for work with two phones. I just got her the weather tech phone cup holder for her X5. It works by adding or removing cup rings to size it to the cup holder. My review? Its a piece of crap, either it will fit too loose and fall out, or to tight not allowing it to recess fully in the cup holder, and still fall out. There is another one advertised on TV that has a twist lock system I am going to try next. On the flip side their desk phone holder works great for my conference calls.

I am using this one:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Its design is slightly different from the one you posted. For this, the cup holder portion does not go down all the way.
It's been working well for me, and no it does not damage the cup holder.
For Waze, I would use CarPlay though.

Thanks. This merits a close look since you are certain there is no damage to the cooling and heating elements.

I do not use CP on the open road because I prefer iDrive navigation for various reasons including HUD display.

If I used CP, I would struggle to know if I most wanted to see the EL or the Waze app, but I would not use either one of them as primary navigation on the open road like 6 states next month.

Sure you know this, but you can have both CP and idrive going. I run waze in CP, set to do audio alerts for things I choose, and then switch to idrive for navigation. While I actually prefer Waze for navigation, I prefer even more using HUD, so best compromise so far I've found.

Thanks for the reminder about CP and iDrive nav.

At the moment, I am focused on 2.5 weeks of driving on the open road next month. My personal preference is to have the iDrive 7 screen rather than CP on the large G05 screen.

When I ran V1 + R7, it was no problem to put the iPhone in the charging cradle and use Waze audio alerts.

Now that I am running V1G2 + R360c, I still want the iDrive screen + HUD while getting Waze audio alerts, V1Driver iW vibrations + data on the iW screen along with looking at the EL map to see verified K, Ka, and Lidar hits. Remember Waze alerts are based on human input, while EL gets its data directly from the RD.

I ordered this and will test it this week:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Edited to say this lasted 2 1/2 days. The base failed and could not support the heavy iPhone holder. However, it is an interesting concept yet I was not happy with the look that this thing gave to the car.

I know it is a struggle to read a prior post, but stretch all the way up to #9.
