Update, I forget the term they dealer used; but it’s the body module that needs to be replaced. I will find out the exact part number shortly and share. Non in inventory, so has to be ordered from Germany...out of the car for at least 4 weeks. Do have a loner that they offered. More to come, stay tuned.

I had to have my car towed to the dealer today because of this issue. Car recognizes fobs for locking and unlocking but not too start car. Dealer told me it was batteries- asked him to call me back after he replaced batteries and tell me he started car. What a surprise- that did not work! Does anyone have an update on the real issue because they seem very perplexed as if they have never heard of this before and I am the first and only. Car is a 2019 with 20K on it

Same here Key Fob showing as not found.
Opens car, but will not start, will not come out of prk. Parking brake will not release and windows will not roll up. Replaced batteries, no joy. Held next to steering column, no joy. Tried to use key card, no joy. BMW sent a tow truck driver with no lo jacks so could not load on flat bed since wheels are locked with transmission in park and parking brake on.

I’ve experienced this several times with a fairly fresh key fob battery. I enter unlocked X5 with key fob in right pocket, vehicle doesn’t recognize key to start, even when placed against steering column. All our floors are hardwood or tile, so I doubt electrostatic discharge. ‘Fix’ is to lock/unlock vehicle via fob buttons, whereupon vehicle recognizes the key and all returns to normal.

This is so silly, car is so sensitive that whenever I am working around the garage it would unlock/lock/unlock/lock/etc so sensitive that 1 foot of movement makes a difference, eventually I just leave the key next to car, but whenever I get into the car and start the car, few seconds later it says Key Fob Not Detected.. I just ignore and drive, since I have my digital key card in my wallet if it doesn't start. I was wondering maybe that was issue but I recall key card will not work unless I put it on the tray so it can't be interfering.

Yes, the lock/unlock/lock/unlock dance as I circled the X5 was initially annoying, so I disabled the auto-lock feature for a few months. More recently I re-enabled it, because I go into my workplace with both hands full, and hands-free locking is just one more convenience I didn’t know I’d appreciate.

I’ve had my G05 for over 2 years and am just now having fob issues. I often have to press buttons several times to lock/unlock, and sometimes they don’t work at all. Remote start is a total crap shoot. I recently changed the battery so it’s not that. The fob did recently fall out of my pocket and hit the ground, but I can’t imagine that would damage it. Thoughts?

ame story. Car 1 week old. Both keys are not being detected but are able to unlock / lock vehicle. Replaced key fob battery thinking that this is causing the issue - no luck...
Luckily I have the digital key and nfc card set up so I'm able to drive it. Arranged service appointment but will be calling assistance to get this done faster ( hopefully) I've seen in another thread info about disconnecting battery and pressing buttons in specific sequence which helped folks with the X5 45e |

Which is the display key? My X5 won't recognize either key or the card, it will open the doors and light up my display, however, the car will not start saying key is missing even if held to the column.

Happens to me often. Key fob and card in my pocket and the car shows no key detected. When using galaxy phone, never had an issue though.
