Two issues I've been having are with the "driver profile" and battery. I've been getting a "battery malfunction" message, which indicates the car my be driven but with reduced functionality. The service department at my local dealer has determined the accessory battery needs to be replaced and has had the lithium battery on order for over a week now. Says BMW is not releasing battery in a timely manner.

I have not been able to login into my driver profile, I can login into the BMW connected drive web site and the Android app but not the car. Seems to be an issue on the server side as I'm not able to login the loaner X5 I have either. I had been lead to believe a software update might resolve the issue.

After being updated to SW version 03/2019.30 I'm now able to log into my connected drive profile! Update reset a bunch of settings but that's okay things are working again

My X5 has been in the shop for 2 weeks after receiving an error indicating: "Transmission: Driving Possible". Now they are saying a gear selector has been ordered? 7 more days before that part arrives...

Oh yes sir, The M50i will have the new version of the N63TU V8 - putting out 523hp & 553 lb of torque. Big increases over the current 50i.

My first BMW. First off, love the car overall. 2nd, here’s some software glitches in the idrive system i have experienced in the first 1500 miles driven, and some minor annoyances:

1.the toggle button on end of blinker handle, that scrolls thru dash displays ( g force, hp, mile, etc. frequently gets frozen so that I’m unable to change it on the fly. Usually gets stuck while in the “comfort “D” mode. It resets when car is turned off and restarted.

2. The navigation screen recently just started going to black screen ( like its completely off), while driving. This has happened twice in the last two days. Its easily reset by pressing the Home button on the center console.

3. For two days I Was unable to connect to the News app. Just yesterday it finally decided to load, without any intervention on my part.

4. That LED ambient light in the upper driver side center console, is the most annoying, distracting (shouldn’t be there) design flaw ever, while driving at night. I’m considering covering it up with tape. Suggestion to BMW, get rid of it. Makes me wonder if the test drivers ever drove this car at night.

Don't know yet. But hell - did you see the new power figures?
They have not released the options & info on the 2020 model yet, should be in a few months. I do hope they "upgrade" the color choices. Currently skimpy 7 colors - 4 of which are black or white. 2 new coming this month, a brown & ANOTHER dark gray.

And like any vehicle, the 2nd model year should see the title of this thread reduced significantly.

Outside of the delay in BW audio package and DHP this is the reason I decided to wait; hoping the bugs, kinks and issues would be worked out but with a new motor curious if there will be a whole new batch introduced just after these are resolved.

- Innacurate and inconsistent production status data. Old/outdated process/steps are listed. Fairly useless and disappointing initial impression

Genius Line
- Genius’s computers off line - sorry, call back
- Put on soundless/endless hold - dead end
- Disconnected
- Phone systems down

Genius App
- None of the videos work for the G05 (the only purpose of the app - do they test any of their software - at all?)

IDrive7
- HUD forgets suppression settings for media choices and lists them all
- Frequent need to reboot to connect via WiFi and Bluetooth
- CarPlay disconnects and wont reconnect
- Apps wouldn’t load/update for the first 3-4 weeks of ownership
- WiFi hotspot doesn’t work (what a disaster that has been)
- Could not get 3D view to work for a few weeks
- “Store” doesn’t seem to work or link to anything
- There are others - I trip over so many, so often, it’s hard to remember all of them.

Vehicle
- Check Control: Reduced Parking Assistance (on for a few weeks - vehicle has been washed to ensure no sensor disruption)
- Check Control: Chassis Limited error message (related to prior issue - going in to service in a few weeks).
- Flakey comfort access. Works sometimes, doesn’t others
- Ongoing squeeking noise each time the vent for internal/external air circulation opens or closes (in center console).
- Steering Intervention is a lawsuit waiting to happen
- In near zero temperature, the steering seems “off” - others have experienced much worse steering issues in extreme cold
- Windshield seems very sucseptible to chips
- Harmon Kardon’s defaul balance/EQ settings are a joke. Sound Stage is biased to the right and front. Vocals seem to come from the passenger’s door. Getting the rear speakers involved requires some extreme settings. Sounds nice when tuned properly but WTF?
- Auto Start Stop enabled by default at every start (I’ve coded off - but it’s still crappy for BMW to foist that shit on us to meet an EPA number.)

95% of this stuff is software related. I’ve mentioned in other posts. It’s a shame BMW can’t figure out how to do software - you have to actually try to be this bad. They have the hardware - they’ve nailed. Amazing.

All that said - I love this car. Much is minor - most can (hopefully will) be addressed by BMW.

Great list! My biggest issue is music. In my old 428i, as soon as I got into the car, Bluetooth would continue playing on my Apple Music playlist where it left off and when I use USB it would work seamlessly. In the X5, I have to manually initiate my music playing for 95% of the time (the 5% where it does work, I can't figure out why)...

In addition, if I plug into my usb to get usb music (not Bluetooth) , it won't recognize my iPhoneXS for about 50% of the time. I'll have to do a hard reboot on idrive and then it works. Sometimes, unplugging and plugging back after 5 times causes it to finally recognize that is like to play USB Apple music. Frustrating. I have update 12/2017.35 but I'm hoping this has been sorted out in future updates

The revised V8 (N63B44T3) is already in service with the M850 & now the 2020 750i.I have not heard of any issues - it is a glorious engine!

It was the original N63 from 2012 that had problems.

My folding mirrors stopped working today after unlocked the car. They both remained in folded positions after I unlocked the car. If I forced them to the normal positions, they both went to folding positions again when I started the car. Anybody has idea? Thanks.

I finally figured it out by pressing the folding mirror switch on the driver side door. It was accidently touched.

I would think it could be a bug. The mirror should unfold it by itself if the car already starts to move.

It doesn't seem to do it on the G series. My E90 would do it automatically. If you used the button to fold the mirrors, they will not unfold with unlocking doors until you do it again by the button. I suspect someone broke a mirror off if parked in a tight area. Agree it should open after reaching a certain speed.

Mine updated while I was in the garage with the car on before pulling out. It prompted me there was an update in the notifications tab. I hit accept and it took about 3 mins to download and install. Enough time for me to run back inside hit the bathroom and come back out..... I'm guessing that was a push over the air that you are asking about??

Sounds like it. Good to see bmw is using that function to keep the idrive updated. We shall see how this plays out over time

I don't use the emails or calendar but it should work on newer phone's. My car is currently at the dealer so I can't test the feature.

Anyone know when the 2020 year models for the x5 will be coming out? I have an audi currently and are cross shopping the x5 and q7. When do bmw next year model ordering open up? For Audi 2020 models generally open orders in april/May with delivery in late SUMMER.

I got similar message that software was updated but still on same version. I also noticed that front collision warning car popped up earlier than normal on two different circumstances while driving. Did your version change?
