45e occasional use charger on 240v in US
http://carcharging.us/adapt/bolt-240.php
As a current Volt owner I have tested the info at that site as accurate ie the charger that came with the Volt accepted 240v from my Nemo 14-50 receptacle via adapter and car recognized it as a l2 charge source. Does anyone know if the 45e occasional use charger is capable of accepting 240v with adapter similar to the bolt/volt setup noted at that link? |

1) it isn't "occasional" if it's one's only charger. in that case, it's pretty much the dedicated charger, which was the case for me until i purchased a level 2 charger and installed a 240V outlet in my garage. 2) it's a level 1 charger and doesn't double as a level 2 charger if plugged into 240V (unlike the provided charger for your Volt). 3) the UL sticker states: "120V/60Hz" at max 10A. jad03060 may provide more details. BTW congrats on your new 45e! Last edited by nZtiZia; 02-06-2021 at 05:49 PM.. |

The included EVSE in the USA is not 120/240vac compatible...you'll likely fry some internal components if you tried to plug it into a 240vac source.
There are some that you could buy that could do that, and I've heard of people taking theirs apart and changing some components to make it work on 240vac, but that would void any warranty claim you might have if it later failed. |
