I think they meant before or after install it wouldn't show up in a week or so.

If you didn't have an issue before after install, you won't have any now. Just remember to check torque again after a few hundred miles. Enjoy!

I didn't have it before. Then got it after installing the springs. But according to my analysis, which is limited to only my truck and a friend's, it was the sway bar being loose. We never even think about it because we never touched it during installation. So, a fourth person noticed that who was not in the initial install and the second time around. Go back on this thread and there is plenty of info on how to troubleshoot. It could help if you have not tried yet.

After fixing the problem, I am loving it. Good luck, bud! I do feel your pain.

All you did was tighten the sway bar endlinks and the sound went away completely? are you at max drop in the rear?

Alright, here is the final result and fix.

BMW ISTA torque spec for M10 bolt that is holding the sway bar link to the lower arm (circled in red), is 56Nm / 41ft-lb.
With this spec, it made noise.

MSS UK recommended to torque it at 100Nm or 73.76ft-lb.

Noise is gone now.

Hope this helps.

Awesome! Now the question is if that will make it to the official instructions 😄. Good job! Now everyone can go get a set of MSS springs.

And yes. I did what Ben mentioned below and the top part as well slightly tighter. But try the bottom part first as suggested by Ben and MSS first

No issue since that is a fixation bolt, no lateral stress going through it.
And if you notice, the other end that is connected to the sway bar end, is a swivel joint.

MSS springs fitted this week on my X5MC ... very happy with them. the ride is a bit softer, but still "M"-like, but for me more importantly the ride height is more like what i was expecting i.e. not "low-rider", but not on stilts either as the stock ride height seems/seemed to be!

i've not encountered any of the knocks / noises mentioned by others on this thread - i had mine fitted by Autoworks Services (main man is Dale), who did a great job ... BMW enthusiasts, detail-orientated, keen to go the extra mile ... 10/10:

My car went into the BMW dealership on the 18th Feb and is still there they are currently investigating the problem.
When I originally reported the noise at the break in service they looked for any notifications from BMW as to what the fault could be.
A fix notification was out for the uni-joint between the two driveshafts and they worked on that but it did not fix the problem.
Now a senior mechanic is investigating the problem and reporting back to BMW Australia.
I have made them aware of the forum fix as of yesterday.
It be interesting to see what they come up with next week.
I'm currently driving an X2 loan car.... at least i'll keep my license for another week.

Thanks guys for all this information, my set of springs just arrived so will be doing install soon. One thing do we still need to fit the neoprene cover between springs on rear? My springs shipped with these instructions but from information on forum looks like sway bar link bolt not torque enough causing the knocking noise. Please confirm

I would say, better to do the neoprene.
Regardless it does anything or not, at least you won't have to take it apart again to put the neoprene.

Its original use is to cover the adjuster from dirt and road debris.
But, in this case, I use it to tighten the gap between the adjuster to the main spring, which I originally thought was the fix.

With the neoprene there you lose the ability to adjust the height in the rear right?
