Only you are going to be able to make that decision. Some things to think about:

1. Do you need a vehicle now or can you wait another 12-18 months and get the LCI?

2. Knowing what we know now, what about the LCI do you think is worth waiting for?

3. The reverse of the above, what about the LCI do you not like?

4. When looking at a 22, what do you think it is lacking? Will it always bug you if you get one and then find out that lack was taken care of in the LCI?

5. Are there any financial concerns? There is likely to be a price increase and of course interest rates will probably be quite a bit higher than they are now.

I am picking the 2022 purely because I can't stand the tablet display they are throwing in the cars now. It's such a basic looking display to me. I was in a new Escalade last week and it looked so much nicer.

The only thing I would want from the lci is the additional power but since this is a car for my wife it's plenty powerful already.

Lastly, there's a good chance pricing goes up for the lci so that's another thing to consider.

I will choose to live in the present rather than wait, as you can always wait for the next generation products year after year. We are not buying antiques for its value, we are buying life. Technology will always leave us behind. Enjoy the moment, enjoy the life.

I agree, i'm not fond of how the screen just sits on the dash...physical integration seemingly being an afterthought. I thought i'd might come around to it if i saw it in person...but alas...i did and i think it even looked worse IRL.

I also don't like how almost all of the functions are now going to the touchscreen...i like the current versions with relevant physicaly buttons for climate control and memory functions

There personally wasn't anything that significant enough for me to wait nearly 2 years for at the time I ordered, so we stuck with the 45e.

Worst case if its significant enough, we'll change. If not, we'll wait until the next iteration of the X5 or just go full EV when its time to move onto the next vehicle.

So very true. You’ll never catch up if you’re always chasing technology. And life’s lessons teach us that newer isn’t always better.....

I went with the MY22 (purchased last Sept and received the car last Nov). This way I can drive the car for as many years as possible before the G05 is replaced with the next gen in 2027.

I'm waiting for the extra power on the 50e, charging rate and hopefully range. The rest is cosmetics which I really don't mind either way. Plus residuals of course.

If you can wait why wouldn't you. Who wants to buy something which will be updated in 10 months time if you intend keeping it for a few years. I then hear the argument why not just trade. Very very expensive to do that in France and I'm not rich lol

Most people won't be getting their hands on the LCI for closer to 18+ months. It gets announced in like a year, they won't start showing up til Q3+ for the most part. For many - 18 months is a long time and some might not view many of the changes worth the wait, or view them as positive as others might and that's all before we consider what might change, get dropped out or removed in the time from now until it finally releases since they keep changing things on the X5 they currently have on the line. That being said, if you can wait and things get better, it could very well be worth it for some.

Because not long after the LCI comes out everyone will be talking about the next generation, which will have far more changes. It's a never ending cycle, by design.

Not surprising the vast majority of BMW owners lease every 3 years.

You def won't get it in 10 months time. More likely 16-18 months time provided production for the MY24 starts around June/July 2023.

By that time, will people want to wait an additional 30 months for the next gen X5?

Dealer starts taking orders for the 2023 in July. Is that the LCI or does that come later?
What are the changes?
No hurry to replace my 2016 with 49000 problem free miles except for replacing batteries and original tires with non run flat and of course oil changes and wioer blades.

That is not the LCI and changes should be minimal, if any, besides increased price. LCI has more horsepower, both with electric motor and ICE, and brings iDrive 8 to the X5.

Should wait since it sounds like you have the appetite for waiting

In general if you like the current styling the LCI gets you a tech and engine upgrade. If you want entirely new styling then the next gen would be a better bet.

This, IMO idrive 7 with live cockpit is the best BMW has ever designed.

I'm in France so different circumstances. We will get the LCI much sooner than the US I believe. Also leasing is rare in France. We buy and keep our cars much longer. Also trade ins are rubbish so buy now and want to trade up means loosing big bucks. So for me no brainer. Having a model which is not due to replacement for 3 years and getting the upgraded power, i8 etc is well worth the wait. Remember I will probably keep the car for 10 years so a 1 year wait is nothing.
