Was only focusing on X5 models since this is a X5 forum.

The peripheral illumination provided by the fog lights provide great assistance when I drive. As someone in the thread previously said when dealing with the Central Valley Thule fog it's no joke. I use them all the time at night as well. That extra light helps when seeing night cyclists and pedestrians wearing dark colors. Hearing that they were omitted in newer models makes no sense to me, why not take backup cameras away too while you're at it?

Install of missing front fog lights
I have a 22 X5 M50i without fog lights. Has anyone attempted to install them. Are the wires there for “plug and play”? I know I would need the replacement brackets, the lights and headlight switch, but don’t really want to deal with rewiring it. TIA.
