i know on the 45e when in Hybrid Eco Pro mode, if your vehicle senses another vehicle in front, it will brake and continue to brake (harder at times) if getting closer |

I did not notice increased regen when approaching red light. If there are cars standing and waiting for green light, then yes. But not for the light only.
Interesting that the regen very often triggers brake lights on. You can check this on the display when the car is shown instead of the navi. |

I just started driving the 50e today, and I'm pretty impressed with the adaptive regen. I know it will roll on and on if nothing is in front of me and applying the brakes seem to apply the regen, then physical brakes if needed... but I really like that it rolls and it then adjust to be stronger the closer a car in front of you is, if they are slowing down, etc. Great job on this versus a standard EV so far.

While the X5 can detect red lights and stop signs, that functionality is not active in the USA, but is in some other markets. So, unless there's a stopped vehicle at the intersection, it won't change operations and just continue on through the intersection unless you intervene.

regen braking is not consistent. sometimes it works well others not. it should activate when you lift off the gas instead of activating when the car feels like it (car in front, turn signal on, etc, etc, and even that is not consistent)

I would prefer it to be closer to a one-pedal driving experience, but that would pose a big problem for new drivers or for people that switched to other vehicles frequently. I drove my i3 most of the time versus my ICE which was only used for longer trips, and the first few miles were a relearning experience, and I knew what to look for. New drivers on the i3 complained enough that BMW lowered the maximum regeneration. My feeling is that BMW chose to make it closer to a regular ICE's operations to not scare off potential new drivers. Now, they could make it a s/w adjustable thing, but have chosen not to.
