X5M rotors on M50i

Hello, Anyone know if the G05’s X5M drilled brake rotors are compatible on the M50i’s?

You can keep your M50i calipers and change to X3M drilled rotors for a direct fit. I've done it.

Love it! Did you wait until the original rotors were worn before you got the new ones? If so how many miles did you get out of the original before the replacement?

No I have the originals in a box. They were changed around 3000 miles and really don't have any wear. If I sell the car I'll put those back on. In my experience rotors last a long time. I expect to get 8 years and 100K out of these

Really?? BMW says to replace the rotors the same time when the pads are worn… expecting pads to wear around 20-25Kmiles

We'll see. My personal opinion is if the pad material is not changing and the rotor is still within the acceptable tolerance then it would not have to be changed. I've done my own brake work on my sports cars for years and haven't seen a need to follow such conservative practice. I expect to get much more life from the pads as well.

Generally speaking, unless the rotors are warped, they last one to two brake pad changes. I usually get 100K + miles out of mine.

Yeah I changed them to ceramic for much lower dust. Great stopping power and no noise

It's been a while but I think I got Power Stop for both front and rear but the fronts had broken ears so I returned them and ended up with Bendix. I have about 20K on them with good performance and low dust. I haven't checked pad thickness

I can confirm that the set screw does not line up, the front rotors have the same part number as a (x5m, x3m same rotor) the rear rotor is x3m and the diameter is not the same x5m 380mm, x3m 370mm same as x5 M50i. so the answer to will x5m rotors work on the x5 M50i its a yes and no fronts will rear will not.

the set screws main function is to hold the rotor in place for wheel installation and has no affect on the function of the brakes.
