Advice wanted: 20" or 21"?
Hi! I'm a grandma who happens to like fast cars, so I'm putting together a build for a 2025 X5 xDrive 50e. Carbon black, tartufo leather, M Sport. I'm stuck on the wheel/tire part. 20 or 21"? All season, performance or mixed (whatever that is)?
I winter in Palm Springs area and summer in the Pac NW. I will occasionally pull an rPod trailer. Comfort is equally important as performance. Wheel rash is an issue in the city. What advice do you have on the options I'm considering: 1. 20" 740M, all season run flat. The safe choice? Or the most comfortable choice? Still looks good even tho it's 20"? 2. 21" 915M, mixed runflat. Cool looking. But are they stiff, or are the tires lousy? 3. 21" 741M, performance runflat. Also nice looking. Good tire in the occasional rain? Less comfortable ride than ASRF? Thanks so much for your counsel! |

915 and 741 will have the same tires. Summer performance tire. And summer performance tire will be better than all season tire in rain in warmer places.
Having that said, I will say all season for suv. After all, how fast can you really go in a 5500lb suv.

I did a thread here just recently asking about my 21" wheel/tire setup and it was almost unanimously recommended to me to buy a 20" winter wheel/tire setup. (I also live in the Pacific Northwest) Check out my thread called "Buyers Remorse?" |

Great thread. After reading it and finding another discussion, I've decided to go with the consensus that 20" would be best for me. Added bonus that it's cheaper!
Now I just need to find a great SA in the Seattle area! |
