741m Wheels Sating Black vs OEM
Hi there,
How many of you prefer the look on sating black vs OEM. Thinking on powder coting them, but I sometime see the OEM look in old pictures and they look good too, I guess lol.

Black wheels look like black holes from more than 10ft away. All the details are lost and they all look the same. This is evident in the photos above.
You can see the shape of silver wheels from a significant distance. That said, I still like black wheels on light color cars. I would stick with silver on dark colors. Black on black makes the entire vehicle look like a black hole, but some people like the Darth Vader look. Last edited by slicky; 03-04-2023 at 08:49 AM.. |

Personally, I like the look of the black wheels on your vehicle.
While I agree the definition and details of the wheels do get lost, the blue calipers stand out a bit more in contrast and the whole vehicle just looks more aggressive and intimidating. |

+1, I like the look of black wheels on your vehicle especially with all the nice aero bits you have on it. It'll look so stealthy and mean! But instead of satin or matte black, I'd go with gloss black since the rest of your car is also glossy. IMO.

I'm probably one of the biggest advocates for non-black wheels. Especially if you're going aftermarket, there are so many beautiful finishes that aren't black.
With that said, the majority of non-black BMW OEM wheels are finished with a combo of shiny machined and gloss black or gloss dark gray finish, which pales in comparison to aftermarket finishes. So, in your case I actually prefer the satin black to the OEM finish. Good choice on satin black, vastly superior to gloss black. But my choice would be aftermarket if you included that option. |

I have never liked black wheels on any car, nor any color car. They all look the same, and it does not show if it's a quality wheel or a Chinese 150 Dollars one.

The color of the calipers pop on the OEM vs black, maybe an optical illusion?

OP. There is more than gloss or satin black when it comes to wheel color options.....Any good powdercoater worth its dime is a -artist- with color. I do like the contrast of the OE Diamond Cut wheels on your paint color but here is one example of something beyond black....
Love this color. It's high flake makes it pop in the sun and in shade/overcast, it takes on a slightly different colorway https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/ukl2w...pjoabw64k&dl=0 |
