Definite First World question here.
I am waiting for my new X5 and pondering minutiae while I wait..... Does the X5 come equipped with puddle or door projector lights or at re they replaced by the pathway lighting feature? Once I know this vital information we can move on to achieving world peace etc......... Thanks |

I installed oem projectors on my last G05 X50i M-Sport and just did front and rear on my X7 M50i.
Here is my X5. The oem are certainly better. I put generics on my wife’s Audi and they already look blurry after a year. M logo will match the door sill M logo in font and color. It’s a spot on match. |

Dealers on EBay have the best price. I got my last 2 sets for my X7 M50i from this place. I believe I bought from him earlier this year for my M2 Competition.
They always have them. Offer them $88.00 for a set.. I can’t stress enough to stay with OEM. These will fit our G05 and G07. They are a tight fit but will pop right in. They come with all 4 logo slides. Part# 63312414105. If you want to do the rear doors, you will need to buy 2 sets. https://www.ebay.com/itm/CHEAPEST-BM...gAAOSwBw5dwd1v Last edited by MystroX5; 10-24-2020 at 09:02 AM.. |

On BMW canada site it says fits 40i. This is the main part number: 63312414105, others were sub-part numbers for specific lens I believe.

Already ordered, so will find out in a few! Looks like essentially the same process as adding the 4 rings to Audi puddle lights. Thanks for the info!

Aaand they were correct - these do not fit. With a however. However, you can make them fit. An hour, a broken trim tool, and a slightly botched door card underside (fortunately not normally visible), they are installed. First tip - do not ignore the instructions. At least don't ignore the little pictures (instructions are fairly sparse). These were not Audi rings - which were pop out the old, pop in the new.
Assuming these were the same, I popped out the OEM puddle lights (easy peasy), attached the connector (also easy), and popped in the new. Snug fit. Really snug. In fact, extremely tight. No problem, they're not going anywhere. Except - the logo is upside-down. They were clearly marked "R" and "L", and I installed the "L" on the driver's side, correct, no? No. The R and L are not from the perspective of the seated driver, but facing the car from the front. No problem, I'll just pop it out and swap the lights. Um, not popping. Not, in fact, moving at all. Hence the hour and a broken trim tool, and marred door. Back to the instructions. There is a small diagram of a utility knife, with some measurements. No text, just the picture. It seems to indicate enlarging the opening. Aha. So, essentially ripping out the light, I trimmed about 1/8" from the length of the opening, reconnected and reinstalled the unit. Then spent about 3 minutes installing the passenger side light, correctly. Fini. So basically user error, combined with less than clear installation instructions. I am therefore providing this for potential users who want to spiff up their puddle lights. These will not go into the original opening - and come out again - without modification as described. And I'm assuming - and I'm not about to try - that once you do this you can't go back to the originals without replacing the lower door trim. But you probably won't want to. Dealer Says New Part Coming
So I went to the dealer to buy these for my '21 45e just yesterday. The parts guy said they don't have any more and that they're awaiting an updated version with a new part number. Anyone have any actionable intel on these things? Ebay is sold out of OEM.

It looks like they may be available via GetBMWParts.com: LED Door Projectors - BMW (63-31-2-468-386)
It mentions what appears to be a new part # (63-31-2-468-386) and that it replaces a couple of the Part #s previously mentioned in the thread...Cost is a little more, but if you're not familiar with them, they are BMW of Silver Springs (Maryland) on the backside of the website...I've ordered numerous items from them and have always been satisfied with the results! (Working on an order for a couple of things right now!)

So, what is the part number that will fit my 2021 X5 45e? The dealer I went to told me that it said in the parts system that 63312468386 simply replaces 63312414105, otherwise it’s the same part. In fact, I can’t find 63312414105 on BMW’s accessories site any more - only 63312468386 is there. Will both fit G05s? Are they the same physical part?
