The tow package is a must order bargain, even if you never tow anything.

...but you lose the foot opening sensor. I had a tow hitch on my previous Q7 and never used it once in the 5 years of ownership. I've used the foot sensor on my 4-month old 45e more times than I can recall.

We have 3 vehicles with the foot sensor and rarely use them.

an example of how everyone's use case is different ...why we let others choose options according to their needs.

any option isn't a "must order bargain" if one never uses it, correct? (I've learned speaking in extremes is usually unhelpful.)

Mostly true, except for the compact spare tire kit. At $150 option in US, IT IS a must order option. Then sell it to a Canadian if you really don't want it. Tow package is more nuanced.

unfortunately, the spare tire kit debacle in Canada isn't on the forefront of the majority of Americans' thoughts during their purchase/lease process.

Still a great value for a piece of kit that should come standard (even just basic tools for the 45e with RFTs). "would rather have it and not need it versus need it but not have it."

I think not getting the spare option was the one mistake I made when ordering my car (I did get and use the hitch though).

Thanks yes it was answered but it was kind of a misleading answer as it applies to 40i not 45e. That’s why i wanted to clarify. Bottom line you don’t have to pay for the towing package just to get the upgraded brakes, if you are getting a 45e. (Unless you need to tow something of course). Btw nice thing about 45e.. zero brake dust after 500 miles on it! (Kind of odd that those beautiful brakes almost never get utilized in day to day driving)

Actually it wasn't misleading and answered his question precisely, his 45e:

"Front brakes are upgraded with towing package option - identical to M Sport brakes but in silver and w/o ///M logo - larger front discs are also included but not as large as M Sport"

And it answered why his 45e front brakes and rotors are different than what's standard on 40i.

And you're correct to advise potential 45e shoppers that they don't need to option 3AC for upgraded brakes unless they actually do need the trailer hitch.

Which brakes do the actual F95 X5Ms have? The same M sport ones or steps it up to 6 piston brembos?

Steps up to 6-piston fixed front calipers and single-piston floating rear calipers at the rear

Drilled and vented 395 x 36 mm front brake discs and 380 x 28(?) mm rear brake discs.

Optioning ceramic increases front discs to 400 x 36mm with no other changes to front calipers.

I have both 3AC and 2NH on my 45e. Does that mean I have the 395x36. From the looks of it I highly doubt I can fit 19 inch winters on them….can someone confirm? The photo is with the 21s

It's less about the disc and more of clearing the front calipers. Are your 19" winters aftermarket or factory?

The wheel spec for factory OEM 19" winter wheel set is 9Jx19 ET38 (265/50R19 110H tires). If your 19" wheel set meets the minimum offset of ET38 then you're fine.

Yes I was talking about caliper clearance as most aftermarket wheels are +35-40. Worst case add a small spacer. I at looking at aftermarket wheels which are lighter and cheaper.

Me - on the opposite. Had it on my F16. Never used it.

And here’s the surprise - on G05 the opening pad that you press is soooo big that makes it 10 times easier to open the trunk.

I agree with those who opt in for a tow hitch and bigger brakes.
