Aren’t the new factory builds now coming pre installed with 11.2023 iDrive 8.5?

Should be. Not messing with the wife's LCI X5 8.0 as she wants widgets on the home screen. However, took my M850i in for its annual service (doesn't even see 5K a year in miles) and had my SA have the tech program the 11/2023 iD7 release.

Guessing it should be something like the 7? Not sure the LCI's lighting updates are as sophisticated though to provide the same experience.

Mine was produced mid sept and still needed a OTA update to 7/2023. I think before the update there were 3 levels of heating for the steering wheel. In my F15 i could change heat distribution for the seat . Surpised that this is not possible. Also augmented reality stopped working after the sw update

I just had an upgrade today on my 2024 x5 50e from 2023-07-67 to 2023-11-42. Now that the upgrade is installed, I can see the option to buy the light upgrade theough connected drive. It wasn’t available before the software upgrade (I checked before then after)

Was that OTA or by dealer?

It was over the air. Tbe first one stalled for a couple days and then was withdrawn. The second one was pretty seemless - had to have the car ‘on’ to upload and then was able to leave and lock the car for 20 min for installation. It was unclear whether the download was on my app or on the car itself. Both car and app screens had the same info

Yes, it seems to be rolling out. Hopefully it continues without having any issues.

The OTA update seems to have been pulled in the Canadian market. Several of us had it show up, but not install. Then a few days later it completely disappeared.

It's part of the 11/2023.42 update. It doesn't feel good that BMW is charging for that. Imagine Tesla charging for new features every monthly update. On top of what we paid for these cars, now you have to pay $50 for an animation?

It is 11/2023, it doesn't have to be sub version .42.

I have this option on my 2024 i5. On my particular vehicle, you get three different animations of the running light up front. One is a fast twinkle left to right followed by a singluar pulse, the second is a twinkle from the outside lights towards the grille, followed by a longer pulse. The last is a double pulse of the lights followed by them turning on in stages. The iconic kidney grille illuminates the same on all three settings. There is no change to the rear lights, they soft on as normal. The light carpet shimmers at different speeds depending on mode. I'll make short clips of each and post them.

I got the software download today it just has to install. This may be a silly question, but on an M60i, would the welcome light animation availability even work (without illuminated grille, etc). While we are on silly questions-is there a way to tell which iDrive version the car has either 8.0 or 8.5? The M60i and M440i have different displays so we think one is 8.5 and the other is 8.0. I believe the M60i is on 8.5 and the M440i is on 8.0, but not positive.
