Order tracking in Europe (no VIN yet)

Good afternoon,

does anyone knows how to track new orders for Europe?

With bmwusa's website (mygarage) it is possible to do it, even without the VIN, but it does not seem to accept EU's 7 digit order number.

The European website (or Italian, to be specific), does offer order number but ONLY with the VIN and not with the 7 digit production number....off.

Thanks for any hint,

Cheers,

F

Online tracking is not available for Europe, you need to contact your dealer or BMW and hopefully they will provide information. Good luck.

Only by the goodwill of the dealer in Europe. Tracking with Wallenius was in the past possible with VIN but not anymore. Something about privacy...

You now need a Bill of Lading number. Don't think I will ever get this from a dealer.

I have the complete VIN but I can't track it because I don't have a BOL.

If you know when the ship sailed, you may be able to figure out which one has your vehicle on it.

OTOH, it will show up when it shows up!

Thanks, how strange however, I do not understand why US yes and EU no (maybe GDPR etc.)?

The tracker was built by BMW NA. Why BMW Europe is not using it is beyond me though. I'm one of the unlucky ones where the dealer wouldn't give ANY info so I sort of calculated backwards from the expected delivery date and it seems to line up.

Expected delivery week (the only info my dealer would give me) was week 30.
Usually delivery in Germany is 4-6 weeks from production so that would be week 24-26. (You might want to add 0-1 week for Italy.)
Status 150 is ~2 weeks prior so week 22-24.
Status 112 is ~2 weeks prior so week 20-22.

With this info in mind I called my dealer around those weeks asking specifically about the status and he at least confirmed it. (Some dealers are more helpful in this regard.)

As soon as you have the VIN you can check the production date through mdecoder.com. So mine was produced on 24.06 which is the end of week 25 so that lines up.

You can then check the Walenius Wilemsen schedule to Europe. (Charleston - Bremerhaven for most of Europe. Not sure about the UK.) In my case the DON PASQUALE was the next ship to leave on 30.06 so it would make sense for the car to be on this ship since it arrives on 11.07 in Bremerhaven which would leave ~2.5 weeks for customs & delivery. (The cars usually need anywhere from 1 week to 2 months from Bremerhaven to the dealer in Germany. On average 2 weeks.)

I hope this info gave you a rough idea of how you could gather some info. Unfortunately it won't make the car get to you earlier though.

Thanks, great info! So far the dealer has been very good in providing updated details. However, in 2023, one would expect to use on-line services

Thanks, I will give it a try and let you know. I hope they are not too picky of it being an Italian order rather then English one...

I assumed that you would be accessing an Italian Genius (your location is Italy) so it shouldn't be a problem? In the Genius chat Subject line just put your order number "Order update for #", they will verify it's you and then give you the Code No and description. Simples

Not sure if UK is different but the German Genius wouldn't give me ANY info. Kept insisting that everything has to come through the dealer. I haven't even received any type of order or production number. Genius wouldn't tell me either and said they can't even check. After I mentioned that people in the US could track their order from beginning to end Genius said that this is not possible in Europe.

So I'm wondering now if this is different for the UK.

No, we have only the possibility to pay more in Europe and be thankful when we get a call when the car is ready for delivery.

But hey at least when you are paying more as European your order is being prioritized a lot less than US orders! When production started you were looking at 4-6 weeks from order to production in the US while it was already 4-6 months in Germany. US hasn't really changed much as far as I know while you are looking at one year for a 50e in most of Germany right now.

Good afternoon to all of you,

I still find crazy that I am unable neither to track nor to get my VIN, I truly do not understand what is the secret about it.

Anyway, I manage to get from the dealer that my car is at status "180 Waiting for Export Dispatch", "it is on the ship" they said.

Can anybody confirm that it is the case for that code? (I searched all around the forums).

Thank you in advance!

Here is #180 - 180 Waiting For Export Dispatch [Vehicle awaiting release of consign.]

I would have said that "on the ship" was 195 Exit warehouse (car) (Shipped from Port of Exit) [In transit]

Several times I've asked the 'geniuses' and got different interpretations of the codes. It's worth asking several times across several days to see if they provide the same response (apologies if I'm doing them a dis-service)

As far as I know, that means it is waiting to get on a ship. Here are all of the codes, not every code is used. https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...27&postcount=9

^^^ that is so true. In my case it’s been 6 weeks since placing the order and still no production slot allocated. Sorry for the rant…

Well, my order has been placed on June 2023...expected delivery in February/March...that is roughly 8 months

You should look on your oder and check the requested build week. E.g .I ordered mine in June, the build week was December, even if there was no allocation yet. And it looks like it has started the production on December.

I ordered on the 1st of March and it was delivered at the end of July (well not really since it was damaged during transport and I had to wait another 2 months for it to be partially fixed) while some people on this forum had their car delivered 3-4 weeks after they placed the order.

Doesn't really help, I know.

Trouble is I don’t even have any indication of the build week. It seems like an open ended order … “it’ll come when it’ll come”
