Have a 2024 X5 40i ordered. Car was produced on 4/11 but has been stuck in quality check since then. Any idea how long this will take? Both dealer and genius have no idea or insight into this.

Mine was built and was in Quality Check from last Saturday 4/15 and went to awaiting carrier assignment overnight (4/19). Genius didn't know anything when I called on Monday to see if they had any insights.

It seems like the time in QC is quite variable. Mine (X5 M60i) has been in QC since 4/4.

I do have one other point of reference. I was tracking a different X5 M60i that went into QC on 3/30 (it has a very low number VIN) and yesterday its prodDate changed to 4/18, but it was still listed in QC. Then a short while later, its status changed to (and is now as of 4/19) "Awaiting carrier assignment." So that particular car was listed in QC from 3/30 to 4/18.

My 2024 X5 40i went in QC on 4/10, is still stuck in Production Code 155 QC as well!

Generally the factory does not release details to the dealers or Genius regarding why a vehicle is in QC. It is usually due to a part not being available. That could be for a group of vehicles when there was a supply problem (example was last spring when the control displays were not available for a couple of weeks of builds) or just something specific in the vehicle that needs to be replaced and waiting on a part.

I went into QC on 4/10. As of today, my vehicle finally moved from QC (Code 155) to Awaiting Carrier Assignment (Code 182)!!!!!!!

My 24 X5 40i was delivered with low transmission oil and discovered during troubleshooting last week. I wonder if findings like this would cause BMW to perform additional QC for cars currently in production at the factory?

I wouldn't think so. They would verify the process, specs, etc. and make sure things were set up to be correct when built. Being an old TQMer/Demingite I would hope that is the way they do it.

Still in quality check... 21 days now. I was pretty optimistic, with an initial production date of 4/4, that I would certainly have the car by 4/29 for a road trip, but that's not going to happen now.

I FINALLY made it out of quality check. Finished assembly on 4/12 and was in Quality Check for two weeks. Moved to Awaiting Carrier Assignment morning of 4/26.

Can you share specs of your build? I’m curious if there’s a common feature you all selected that’s causing the delay. Also curious if I opted for it too and I’m going to enter the QC time warp too. Thanks!

Well I finally made it out of quality check on day 10 of being stuck. Figured I would share for those of you that are still waiting. The website actually updated the info on Sunday interestingly enough. Dealership says it should be hitting the ground there this week.

Hopefully we'll get our cars pretty quick. My dealer called me this evening and said mine could get to the dealership sometime next week. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Just an update. My vehicle was delivered on April 25th! It looks incredible.
