Brake squeal

2020 40i with M brakes. Man these things squeal like a pig. Is this something the dealer can address or will I just need to live with sounding like a 1993 Civic at every stoplight and intersection?

I have a 2019 with M performance brakes with the same issue. Seems like it's a common theme out there. I just turn up the music loud enough to drowned out the noise. Frustrating though.

Man im having the same issue it sounds like it is my front left wheel squealing. Took it to the dealer was charged $80 for them to say no issue but recommend changing everything out in the front quotes $1500.

My car only has 23k miles and its a 2019 40i msport on it too and now my check engine light just came on smh.

I think i will only do the front pads and leave the rotors.

Same issue on my front left m performance break as well. I don't think it will fix it by itself besides changing the break pad. Tried few online methods like hard stop above 40 mph (x5) and it went away but come back few days later. Just gonna live with it now till it needs to be replace. 🤦🏻*♂️

How do you deal with the sensor tho ? Just curious.

Well i had everything done at the dealer so they swapped out sensors too

There was a groove on the rotors causing a squeal.

After getting new rotors i can tell its alot smoother ans the groove is no longer there.

The squeal was coming from the inner ring of the rotor if that makes sense

I have regular brakes and I changed my brake pads for Stop Tech carbon ceramic now the squeal is gone. Stock BMW pads were still good and about half way through but they suck. I did it myself for $130 for all pads and $45 for the Bummer link app to put the vehicle in service mode.

The sensor clips into the pad frame on one side so you just unclip and re-use it if it's not worn.

Yes I did mine as well. FYI Bimmer Link does the job but you can actually do it without Bimmer Link if you disengage and re engage the parking brake before pressing the brake pedal.
