I see. Makes perfect sense. Thank You!

First time coding. Just got my car updated by dealer.

Anyone knows if BimmerCode support i-Step 11/2020.42?

I haven't purchased the app yet, just tried the free version to see how things look like and received NO error. I like to know compatibility before paying.

The current Android BimmerCode version I see is 3.4.1-7256 and Im trying to use it with Enet Cable.

My 2021 got delivered with 11/2020.36 and I was able to code some things using bimmercode through bluetooth with no problem. I would imagine with the enet cable, it would code even quicker.

Yes, more stuff will be available as time allows them to crack it.

Typically it takes 1-2 months after the major, quarterly software release before BimmerCode is updated with new coding data for all BMW models. Keep in mind that more than one BMW model must be tested as the software in each model is slightly different.

Thank you but how do I know if it is supported now before purchase? I could read the ECU with no error within my Enet Cable. Dose it mean anything or I should try coding to know if it works with my 11/2020.42 or not?

You should be able to code with 11/2020.xx, as most features are available with Bimmercode. There could be some minor issues in 11/2020.xx that might require a Bimmercode update, but my guess is there is very little if any at this point. If you can't code something in 11/2020.xx it will be greyed out and not available until the next Bimmercode update.

You can try emailing Stephan and ask: support at bimmercodeapp dot com. Short of that or purchase-and-try, because you are on a VERY recent I-STEP, there is no way to know.

Without intending disrespect and as an observation, if you expect to own any modern bimmer for at least a couple of years and WANT to do coding to fix at least some BMW annoyances and customize the car to yourself a bit, just pay for the bloody app already. You bought the car, you bought the interface, you are spending your and forum time on it — the app is the lowest cost item in that set of expenses. Stephan has a history of getting stuff done (eventually, he is not a time traveller) and you are unlikely to be "screwed".

As others have already mentioned, you won't know until you actually connect to your car with the full app and read individual ECUs you want to code. Most likely, the common things you might want to code will be unaffected. However, with one recent update not too long ago, there was a major ECU that did not work with BimmerCode until the app developer updated the app. So there is always the possibility of some incompatibility until the app is updated - and the app is updated on a routine basis.

BimmerCode is worth the cost of admission if you are interested in what it has to offer. So my additional advice is similar to what was stated above, just buy the app. Worst case scenario, you are only out a few bucks (after all, we have all purchased $80k+ BMW SAVs). But I think you will like the ease of customization that BimmerCode offers.

I'm curious about this.

I assume the delays are due to a lack of mappings with the new istep, same as in esys with psdzdata.

The mappings depend on 'someone' within BMW releasing the mapping files for the newer i-step, to confirm that a) existing mappings still align, and b) new codes are understood and presented in the BC interface.

What happens if the devs are no longer are able to source the mapping files?

Thanks everyone, I will report my BC coding result with 11/2020.42 soon.

I'm also going to spend some time on E-sys with caution to be able to hopefully code Anti-Dazzle and TLS by my own. It's scary though.

Then we should hopeful Stephan to be one of those developers. lol

I'm not aware of anyone (esysx, esys plus, tm, bimmercode) supporting new 11/2020 mappings yet. Bit of a concern.

I am sure the delays are mappings, with the additional burden of further testing as a) he is selling to newbies and a lot more can go wrong, and b) he has a lot of platforms (both BMW and randomly buggy OBD interfaces) and variations to cover.

And if he can't get mappings, that probably means we can't get mappings and then it all ends and those of us that can't tolerate BMW default choices will never drive a new bimmer again :-(

I know it's getting a lot harder to get the mappings.

It would irritate me knowing there are desirable features available on a car that weren't available to me due to local regs or because bmw don't want to retrofit, and we can't 'fix' that position.

One of the reasons I am not in a hurry to update to 11/2020.xx, even though my dealer will do it as part of a warranty fix to address a software bug with the steering wheel heat. At least now, all of my coding tools, including BimmerCode, work with all of my BMWs .

I did the same as that guy. I coded, temp with tire pressure, no warning message and no seatbelt chime reminder.

Even though I always wear a seat belt, I turned off the seat belt warning for the front seats. Windows able to be put up and down when doors are open. There were a few more that I can't recall right now.

Haven't got the chance to test this yet but deactivation? What's the diff from "remember last setting" 🤔

My guess is that ASS will be deactivated permanently with this coding, similar to Sport Mode. When in Sport Mode, ASS is deactivated and you can't turn it on unless you select a mode other than Sport Mode.

I'm assuming this is for 2021 cars that do not have the ASS button. You'd be able to disable auto start stop even if you don't have the button.

Remember last setting only works if you have the ASS button. Where did you get that version? I looked on the Apple's App store and latest version is 4.0
