Seems dealers are not willing to give much if any discounts on some models i.e. Z4, not even the usual loyalty discounts.

I got all kinds of discounts when I ordered my X5 early 2019. Covid seems to have hammered negotiations these days. Have heard that the new car industry in general is running "inflationary" because of the pandemic's influence in many areas.

BTW, our X5 40i has been virtually flawless with only one minor issue involving the passenger's front A/C vent which was replaced. We love it.
