2019 X5 Dealer discounts

Hey guys, just wondering how much discounts you guys got from your local dealer in Canada. Looking to pick one up and my local dealer is only offering me 2% off as the car is a hot seller for them.

Thoughts?

I got 9.5% off MSRP from the dealer plus additional $2,000 off from BMWFS offer.

Is your dealer in Ontario Canada?

Screw 'em. Yeah, it's always a "hot seller". Don't become another one of their sucker bets amigo.

Here's my deal.

I cant say for sure, but the hot seller part seems sort of bogus. I found that the dealers around here (not Canada) have a ton of lightly optioned x5's that were built in september, october, november. Those vehicles are far from HOT. So, if you're flexible on options especially you should be able to get a great deal on an in stock car. And here in the US people are getting great deals on ordered cars too. I don't imagine that the inventory in Canada is all that different with a lot of not so new units sitting on the lot. That said, I dont know what kind of discounts are possible or what the mark up is like there. Here we use Edmunds.com to determine what invoice is (does it work for Canada too?). Deals are easily going down at invoice or even a couple of percent under invoice (with some cases of even a tad more) plus any incentives you might qualify for (loyalty, financing, BMW car club?).

I suggest looking at the inventory your dealers have online and using the VIN decoder to see when they were built. At least you'll then have some evidence of how hot their inventory is or isn't. Edmunds may work in Canada and give you a good idea where invoice is.

Good luck and happy shopping.

I think some of the inventory might even have the leather credit so that is also more than 2% savings.

Yes in US we are getting better deal. In NJ I was able to get 11% dealer discount plus all the rebates.

All the best.

It's my understanding there is 7% in the Canadian vehicles. They are selling well so they feel there is no need to heavily discount them. You can do a lot better than 2%.

You guys in Ontario maybe, but not out west in Calgary where both dealerships are owned by the same company. We'd be lucky to get 2% unless you are a loyal customer with many vehicles purchased from them.

Wow and our friends south of the border are getting massive discounts.

I was lucky as I just caught an additional 2% from the Trillium membership before the rules changed. That 2% went towards the price increase on the packages, rate increase and lower residuals.

I had three dealerships here all competing to get me to buy the car. And that was at 7% off MSRP before financing and loyalty rebates. I don't buy that it is a "hot" car. I have been tracking what's available in each local dealer's inventory and they have moved maybe 2-3 per month. Even dealers within 2-3 hours will hound me repeatedly if I even so much as inquire online about a online price. Further, the news keeps coming out stating that car sales are decreasing due to economy concerns in the States, especially for luxury imports. At least here, you can play hard ball and get what you want, even on an ordered car.

Unfortunately the dealerships up here in Canada are not so aggressive. Our cars are substantially more compared to the US as well! I agree with you that you need to get a few dealerships involved to get them to earn your business or at least compare. Don't forget to also compare those Admin and Other Fees.

You should at least aim min 5%. I even offered by 7% in Toronto but I was passing the info to another forum member but they didn't offer 7% to him.

Good Luck

That's your dealer adding stuff for profit. It's no different than my dealer wanted to charge for nitrogen filled tires. You need to refuse it.

Thanks, I'm starting to get a bit sour on this. While my SA was nice and knowledgeable, he takes at least 2 days to reply to simple questions on email, they've already added over $3000 dealer options to my quote with the "full 3M package", anti theft, excess wear and tear etc... While I liked the car when I test drove it, at this point I'm only considering it because of the current pull ahead program offer on my current lease.

I would refuse that stuff if you don't want it.

Just another sleezy pack. I agree, reject it and that dealer. I got no packs, no drilling or ad emblems added, lots of rebates and such and bought a new build at 7% off MSRP.

Good luck

I am looking to order an x5 50i in New England with most options for a msrp of $91,845. I am looking at 6.5% dealer discount plus $3,250 bmw incentives. That plus the discount from cca looks to be about 11%. Is this comparable with what others are seeing?

I got 7.5% off plus incentives. Some have claimed higher discounts (as high as 11%) but I don't remember if those deals included a trade. With a trade it is sometimes hard to tell if the discount on the car is really all because of the car, or if the trade value was a little low. It seems that the more expensive the car one should be able to get a better discount.
