Have production numbers for both vehicles and they are on the Tracker - just "Order Received" status right now, but fortunately the BMW reps were at the dealer when we visited this week, and they were able to look at some magical prognosticator and tell us that production should actually begin latter part of July, first part of August, with build completion and ship in September. Didn't specify a week, but hope to see an update fairly soon and will post. Coming out of a pair of late-model Audis, so guarded optimism about getting back into the world of the Blue Propeller.....

Yep - replacing his & hers Q7s! Spouse was a Bimmer driver for over 30 years before the Audi detour; mine is a more spotty history with a 5-Series, an M5 and an X5d. Great cars (BMW), but up until 2019 the technology (and design) was just dated, hence the switch when we really wanted features Audi had & BMW didn't - 4-wheel steering, driver-assistance technology, better GPS mapping, air suspension, more refined cabin. And then BMW caught up....

I just placed an order for a 2020 XDrive 40i today and the dealer said he expected it to be ready for pickup in mid to late July. It's currently "Scheduled for Production" in My BMW. I don't know if it makes any difference but the dealer said he was using an allocation he had.

Doesn't the factory in SC need to re-calibrate the equipment and machinery to switch from MY2019 production to MY2020? Does that take time? Does the factory really need to change anything for the production of the next model year? I'm not sure. |

The are likely doing this “recalibration” in parallel, slowing down part of jul 2019 production while putting some lines down. Plus not much to recalibrate since it’s just the large modules being put together so dash will just come with SensaTech, seats without Tartufo, and recording module will just be integrated into one of those modules. So if you think about it, not much needs to be stopped really. Otherwise keep production off is going to cost them $$$

My custom ordered xDrive 40i M Sport is scheduled for production and I just got a call from my awesome sales advisor that it is set for week 32 (8/5 - 8/11) production, which is a lot sooner than I was expecting. Might even get to see it late August, but likely will be an early September purchase.

It is scheduled for week 32, the first full week in August, but my CA said that's not in concrete, it could be later or earlier. He also said once it does go into production it usually goes pretty fast, three days or so. |

Beyond that, I'm hearing from PCD that all MY2020s will be subject to an EPA and CARB hold. None will be released to end users until that hold is over. I'm hoping it's rapid, as a late August PCD would be ideal for my scheduling.
