I didn't read about this but the only thing i know is that when you driving in save mode and charge while driving it doesn't charge more than 80% of the batteries.

Great!
Ours ( 4 hybrid cars) were produced on 22/10 and still on "transport " to Genk. I feel like waiting forever and ever... our dealer is not proactively informing us at all... so we all chase every day as we were expecting to still have them this year (interesting for fiscal reasons)
Question, would Bmw deliberately postpone delivery to January as it is a new year and they can put these cars on 2020 quota?

I don't think so because my sales told me they didn't even understand it anymore. They are delivered at random. Mine was produced 14/11 and then I did follow 3 boats. 1 of the boats was in front of bremershaven for more than a week. Then 5 days in bremershaven. He also told me that there are planned second week Jan who are delivered this week.... its strange.I hope tomorrow the papers and then on friday hopefully i can pick it up. For me it is also fiscal interesting :-)

Thanks for the reply Chris. Mine is still - I checked with he carrier directly (Eddie stobart ) and mine is still (!!) in Zeebrugge ready for transport to Genk (sadly my dealer told me that they did not know exactly where the car was - one call gave me the answer)... i read on this forum that people can push delivery straight from Zeebrugge so if people have experience with that, feel free to comment

I asked the same question to my dealer. Car was produced 02/12 and on the boat (code 165) on the 4th. Since there was only on ship leaving around the 4th I tracked that one and she's now moored in Gothenburg after loading/unloading at Bremerhaven. Tomorrow the boat will leave for Zeebrugge and arrive here the 22nd.
So far so good
However.. I was given a delivery date in the 3rd week of January in the system .. but apparently that only means when the car is expected in Genk. It would take another 2 weeks to get tot the dealer in Antwerp. so It would take about 5-6 weeks from the boat to delivery at the dealer which is absurd.
So I asked him if we could get a direct delivery from Zeebrugge to him. He told me that the car will only be released once the dealer receives the papers. In the mean time the car is transported to Genk. The only thing they could do was push for the papers to go directly to them from Zeebrugge which could speed up things a bit but I'm not sure by how much.
I'm afraid that's all the info I have. If somebody has more inside information on how to get the car delivered faster, it would be greatly appreciated

I've only ever had a range of 40 miles after a full charge. But when I charged it from empty the charger app stated that it had taken 25kWh, which I thought was the maximum capacity of the batteries?

Just another input regarding the electric range of the 45e. I’ve driven both the 45e and the g20 330e sedan, 0 Degrees Celsius (32fF). Dry condition, cold car at startup (no preheating). Without much effort the 45e got 67km and the 330e 46km. IMO getting 75 km out of the 45e shouldn’t be much of a problem when it’s a bit warmer (>10 degrees Celsius). I’m currently driving the f30 330e which electric range is terrible, about 20 km... Just ordered the 45e, can’t wait

Hello All currently already 500km with my new car. Range of the battery is about 60km. For me its combined slow road and highway. About 50/50. I was already 1 time from home to work on a full charge.

Delivery was also something special. The car was hiding behind a curtain and then its opening en there she is

Currently i'm at 2.6l/100km. I drive every day about 18km on highway.
The technology is also amazing. Still reading the manual and testing the settings ...

Stunning spec, it’s a shame we can’t get that interior trim here in the UK.

Test drove a 45e for 24hrs, in terms of pure electric range I achieved 40.7 miles on the motorway averaging ~ 70mph at temp 15-20c - that’s more than enough for my needs.

Have you been given any instructions to run the engine in?

I asked the question when I picked up my 45e in March and the dealer said there is no need to run it in. So I've been driving it like I stole it from day one

The manual says it is advised to drive 2000 km before use sport settings and stay below 4500 rpm and 160 km/h, so that is what I did.

300 km for the tires and 500 km for the brakes to be at there best level.

There are some discussions on this forum if any new car still needs running in. And specific for the 45e if the running in would be longer if you drive a lot on electric.

I think it makes sense to go a bit slower in the beginning and and it just feels wrong abusing it the first weeks. This was also my first really new car. Usually I buy 6 month old cars from BMW Germany or the dealer.

regen breaking

I am waiting for mine to begin production Week 5 2021. Can you guys adjust regen breaking such that it's essentially a one pedal driving operation? Most Teslas are driven that way so breaks last a long time. Thank you

Regenerative braking can't be adjusted with paddles on the steering wheel like in other PHEV. However it is different if different drive modes.

In adaptive it adapts to the drive style and trip entered in navigation.

In sport mode it was the most regen braking in eco pro it can sail without braking.

I usually drive all electric mode and i don't touch the brake very much but it isn't one pedal only.

Did any of you guys install 50amp chargers? I know it won't charge the car any faster than a 16amp one but thinking years ahead and future cars it would be helpful to have the wiring in place. What have you guys been installing at home in the US?

I had the same thought of a 50amp charger to future proof and max out the federal tax incentive (30% up to $1000 on combined charger plus professional installation). I bought a Clipper Creek charger https://clippercreek.com/, it was the only one that could charge 2 vehicles off 1 outlet. Waiting for the wire/plug to be run next week.

Oh, one more thing, the charger/install tax credit ends Dec 31, 2020. So if you haven't bought the charger or had the installation completed by 12/31/20, then you cannot file for the tax break.
