I'm expecting delivery in early August, may I ask:

--What is the Electronic Sales Agreement? Does it have anything to do with activating Connected Drive or any software?
--Since I don't have a Samsung phone, can I skip the digital key setup?
--Is it possible to check the radiator and the vibration dampener at delivery? Heard a few people had issues with them.
--Don't I need to sign all the purchasing and financing docs before I can do a check of the vehicle? If there are defects, I will not accept delivery.
--Do you still get the hard copy of owner manual these days?
--How much time do I have with the BMW genius at delivery? I want to make sure everything is working or acceptable before I take the car home. (The genius at my dealer is 20-ish years old kid.)

I read through the G05 forum over the past few months and compiled a list for my delivery. I'm not going to paste them here to flood the thread, but thank you for everything.

Why not paste it here? After all, this what this thread is about. Cheers!

Bumping this for those picking up this month. I found this thread particularly helpful as I try to kill time before my pickup in February.

Thanks for posting. One question I have is whether this should be done before or after you sign the papers and technically accept ownership of the car. I think it should be done before but last time the delivery did not happen until after I was through finance and had effectively signed on the dotted lines. Therefore, I couldn’t really reject the car if there’s something wrong. Would love to get an idea from folks here on how they have approached it??

You should definitely insist on doing these before signing the papers with finance, and it's your right to do that anyway. It becomes a lot more complicated if you need to "undo" something after you have already signed the papers. I personally have never signed papers for a car at delivery without at least seeing the car with my own eyes and turning it on.

Oh interesting. Never done Performance Center Delivery to know the logistics. Do you sign for the car before flying out to take delivery or something? Or is it just that you've flown all the way there and don't have the practical ability to refuse delivery of the car if something is wrong? lol

My first time also but what I've gathered is you sign about a week or two out from your PCD. I guess if there are minor issues at the delivery BMW will make it right. They can't blame anyone else like dealers can blame transportation or something... the cars are literally handled by BMW 100%.

Bumping this thread for anyone picking up in Q4 ... a few other resources out there:

• BMW has a series of short videos on iDrive 7

• Some dealerships (e.g., 1, 2) have created a virtual genius experience with videos and offer web conferencing

Given how complex iDrive 7 is, seems like BMW should have an online mockup of iDrive 7 that people could play with to both market it, crowdsource feedback, and also to help people familiarize themselves with it.

Having been fortunate enough to do multiple EDs across various gens of iDrive my normal move has been to ignore everything the delivery specialist is saying to get to the drive away part as fast as possible. This will be my first non-ED BMW delivery (i.e., they always have had a "genius") and iDrive 7 seems to more/less require setup and config.

My plan is to study up and do the setup myself at the dealership and have the genius standing by if I have any questions.

Don't forget to check for wrinkly back seats and a flush fitting fuel door.
Both very important

Garage List
Bumping this thread again based on DrMicro's defective paint thread and Busa Dave's advice on checking to ensure the dealer (or dealers) haven't repaired any damage:

In short, I'm adding to my list topical list:

* Price & financial details obviously
* No-drill front plate, no wash, no dealer stickers/badges
* software updates, all options / order specifics
* check the paint work, windows/glass, lights/lens for cracks
* idrive, electronics/software setup, configs like steering intervention
* If dealer delivered (or PCD or ED?? and post-ED), check for VPC / dealer repairs

Busa Dave anything else to add besides:

Think Again.

Yes inspection is critical BUT so is looking at the vehicles repair history. Ahhh you say it does not exist because it is new---nae nae. Real example for me 2 weeks ago on a delivery, transmission cooler leaking caught during PDI. Repair was made and YES the internal record of it does exist and tie back to the vehicle. Car stores do not want to divulge this but they have to get paid.

Even if it was internal meaning that it something the dealer did on their property there will still be internal record's of peoples labor and material used.

Example you buy at dealer A getting work done a dealer B SA tells you did you know this car had this part replaced last month before you bought it? That is because the manufacturer paid for it. If it is the dealer is paying for paint and body work for something THEY are responsible for that is different.

The SA is not supposed to be going there but if you are persistent they will. The selling Dealer unless they have something to hide should have no problem putting on the sales order that no repairs have been performed to this vehicle. Lot of vehicles get damaged in the transport process are fixed without a whisper to the buyer.

A few weeks ago it was 03/2021.46 but that is likely old by now, someone may chime in.

From my reading I've come up with the following:

-Have the CA Activate the electronic sales agreement(ESS)
-Test SOS call
- Test Comfort Access
- setup and test Connected Drive App. Make sure have "activation code" for iPhone.
-Test Apple CarPlay
- check can see Playlists
-check for the weather widget
-Test Digital Key Card
-Test Remote 3D view
-make sure all subscriptions are activated by CA...SiriusXM, etc.

Please add to the list any other items you can think of for us to ask about or confirm when we pick up the vehicle. Thanks!
Great List- thank you

Thanks so much for sharing. Maybe this is a dumb question, but are these all really necessary? Can anyone please share a story when your new delivered car fell short? Do you just walk away and order another one? Or does the dealership fix things for you?
