An other factor that might be important are the European tax regulations.
In Belgium we are taxed based on CO2. The difference is up to 8000 euro a year and leasing , fuel and costs are 100% deductible vs 50% on a 40i or 30d. In the Netherlands the 45e is actually cheaper than the 40i and 30d due to co2 tax on a new car. I think they have a similar regime in Scandinavian countries. Due to these regulations these cars are easier to sell because the large fiscal benefit and people are afraid regulations would change again in they wait to long. Apparently more than 1000 45e have been sold in Belgium the last months. I don't know about regulations in France and Germany and the UK. |
