Retrofit Traffic Jam Assist
The driving assistant professional package includes a bundle of features such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warnings, and hands-free driving at low speeds. This last feature is branded traffic jam assist. It was missing from the very first x5s built, anything before November 2018. however, in photos I've seen it looks like the mobileye camera hardware is there.
Does anyone know what was missing (hardware? software?) that delayed availability of traffic jam assist? Has anyone looked into whether it's possible to retrofit this feature to early build vehicles?

Actually it is Extended Traffic Jam Assistant. From all accounts the Plus package has all of the hardware needed for eTJA and through coding can be enabled. There was a thread concerning the details so you may be able to search and get some info.

That will probably work in the USA. Edit: FA must show a build version of 1811 or later to VO Code. For any G05 with an earlier FA build date i.e. 1807, these will need launcher pro/esysx FDL coding and may not work: HU_MGU - LENKASSISTENT_DCS aktiv SASx - C_HOO_Vorhanden vorhanden_nostandby this will be presented differently depending on if using LP vs esysx, just make sure werte=02. If that doesn't work try werte=01 especially if on i-step 1911 and later Last edited by ifr; 02-17-2020 at 04:05 AM.. |

Yeah I got mine in May of 2019 so you don't think it has the necessary hardware for me to be able to just code this option?

Retrofit Driving Assistance Pro Package
I know this topic has been beaten to death and I’ve been reading about it all over this forum but the but I haven’t found a clear answer: is it possible to retrofit the driving assistance pro package with Traffic Jam Assistant and ACC in a BMW that came with the parking assistance, premium, convenience, and luxury package? I really wanted this but this 2019 X5 xDrive40i came with the B and W system which I wanted more. How much would it cost to add and code? Can I take it to a retrofitter? I reside in Ohio and East Tennessee.
Thanks! |

For the early builds that have the Driving Assistance Plus package it is just a matter of coding to turn it into Driving Assistance Pro. |

I am relatively certain this retrofit goes straight into the "way too complex, trade your car in" category.

I didn't think the front grill camera was part of the DAP but rather the parking package/360. Either way, I think your category is correct.

It's definitely part of DAP. It was something I looked for while shopping to quickly recognize vehicles with DAP.

I checked the technical docs and that doesn't seem to be the case. Probably just coincidence on the ones you looked at also had the 360 view.

Based on the parts diagrams at RealOEM I am pretty sure my assumption is correct. This radar unit is labeled as part of the Driver Assistance Systems: Not the surround view camera or parking assistance systems:
